I was incredibly invested in this book, so much in fact that I stayed up until nearly 2 am because I couldn't fall asleep without knowing what happens!
This book follows Fable, a 17-year-old girl who's spent the last four years exiled on an island filled with thieves where she tries to survive on the skill her mother taught her: diving for gems. She spends four years trying to save up enough coin to book passage to go back to her father, the man who left her on the island in the first place.
I thought the characters and world-building were done very well (as you can tell, I was so invested that I couldn't put the book down!). It was a very fun read, a bit on the lighter side, and certainly on the young-adult side. Usually, I prefer the characters I read to be a bit more complex and developed, but I enjoyed it just the same! All in all, a great young-adult fantasy read.
