I wanted to love this book so much because I'd heard such great things about it & the last pirate-esque book I read was literally one of my favorite books ever, but unfortunately this did not happen. it was fine is the main note (at least for the first book) that I have. the world building was good & I love the idea of a gem sage, and the character Fable was a very strong female lead. but like West....again I wanted to love it, but it's a no bueno for me.

I don't think books about ships/sailing are for me. Barely any plot, weak romance, could have been longer. However, I will try to read the sequel. There was no climax, or if there was, it was very weak.
