Fable

Adrienne Young

3.97 AVERAGE

Fable is looking for a way back to crew with her Father who abandoned her on an island 4 years ago after his ship sank and her mother with it. She barters passage to her father’s location on a ship she has traded with throughout her time on land captained by West, a young tradesman. But his crew and ship hold many secrets and Fable gets caught up in their quest to free themselves from their benefactor. The number one rule of the sea is to trust no one-yet Fable seems to be breaking it wherever she goes. Hurt by her father’s rejection, she takes on a new role as part of West’s crew drudging hoping to find the family that she’s always longed for. Book ends on a familiar face from Fable’s past coming into view.

I really enjoyed this book! 3.5 stars for me. Staying away from pirate-ish books earlier was really dumb because after reading this and daughter of the pirate king, I’ve realized I actually really enjoy that kind of plot! Although for some reason, I found myself comparing this book to that one, I think I enjoyed DOTPK more. The romance was way more developed and the plot in general was much more enjoyable. The romance between Fable and West fell a little flat for me but I did like the plot with her father and the cliffhanger was great! I will be reading Namesake for sure!

DID NOT FINISH

DNF - 10%

I don’t really care about what’s going to happen. The whole time I was thinking I should reread Tress of the Emerald Sea, I just couldn’t get into this story.

I am obsessed. I really have nothing negative to say about this book. I enjoyed the journey as well but that ending was fire! So excited to continue this journey and will probably read anything in this world—such a unique version of pirates I feel like. Binged this book in one day and highly recommend. I love the MMC so much and just the whole crew of his ship gives found family of misfits and I cannot wait to get into their stories more!

Side note: There is a lot of world building and character development up front so keep that in mind if you struggle with slower starts/world building. I personally enjoyed every part of it though!

A little slow in the beginning but I rapidly finished it and grabbed the second book!!

I was really confused throughout most of it because I don't understand boats. But it was a good book and but the cliffhanger was predictable

Love! The story. The characters. The scenes. Everything. Need to get a copy of Namesake ASAP.
