I’m a simple girl. I see a romance between book-loving MC and a charming bookie pilot and I’ll read it. Where can I find a boy to have those book convos with? Maybe not about Peter Pan but I loved all the parallels. Aside from the romance and the book references, I love that the story focused more on Darcy’s issues with her family and what she wants to do with her life, and where to go with it while still focusing on her relationships. The other characters: Marisol, Grandma Wells, Asher, and Tess, were all entertaining in different ways (debatably even more than Darcy. And Marisol definitely gets recognition from me as a memorable and best MC Bestie).
My only issue is that at around the halfway point, it felt like the book deflected from Darcy dealing with her mother’s hoarding as if it was never a part of the story. I honestly forgot about it when we got to that part but it came back (and it came back strong). Same with the small subplot about Darcy's dad. Looking back, everything was well-paced and resolved nicely.

The Library of Lost Things was quite good! I loved Darcy’s character. She was strong and smart, and what’s more, she knew it and didn’t try to destroy anyone with it or complain the entire time. Female leads like this are so rare. Even her best friend, Marisol, was quite likable. They had real, honest discussions (as best friends do!) and weren’t so glued to their phones the entire book. It was refreshing.
I enjoyed Darcy’s romantic relationship as well. It was a slow build, and I saw the work up there. It wasn’t straight to lust.
My favorite parts of the entire book were the Peter Pan excerpts which were wonderfully done and added so much to this story. Some of them even made me tear up. Growing pains can be the worst.
As a counselor, I even like how the description of hoarding was written. It was accurate and a fairly good portrayal of how hoarding affects loved ones as well. However, what I didn’t like was the reason for the mother’s hoarding. I thought that storyline felt a little forced and was very rushed at the end. I was a little disappointed with that.
Also, I found it a little (read: A LOT) unbelievable that a mother (hoarder or no!) would just let their teenage daughter fly with someone so young - especially one who was suffering such severe migraines. Would have been awesome - but, very unbelievable.
Overall, a really good book!

It took me quite a while (over half the book) to really get interested in this story but it was a very endearing story about the various relationships you find yourself in at a young age.
This was one my lovely partner bought me for Christmas and just from the title and cover I knew I would love it and I wasn't wrong. What an amazing final read to finish 2020 on. A beautiful read. One about finding your inner self, your true self.
I can relate to Darcy in many ways. Loses herself into books? Check. Hoards books? Check. Total bookworm? Check. She even works in a book shop. But behind her front door at home is the biggest secret she is keeping from everyone... One that rules her life.
Cue hot Asher entering the scene... Phoaww. Loved him. He is the perfect gentleman in many ways and he reads! I don't want to give anything away but the ending is perfection. Everything turns out okay and the secret is out of the bag and love is in the air. Darcy finds her own love instead of love in books. Beautiful read. Loved it all.
I loved how at the start of each chapter there's a book quote or relevant quote. Highly recommend. A well deserved four stars from me.

The book blurb pulled me to this book…
I loved the story and the characters
The writing- not so much…
Certain phrases were pointlessly reiterated (Then I, Darcy Jane Wells, queen of words, lost all of mine); situations left unexplained (Darcy's reaction to Asher gifting Olivia a children's book. Darcy feels "my heart squeezed. So tight, I had to turn..." why does she show that reaction? To the book or to the gesture? And it’s a first person perspective so she should voice it out as an inner dialogue at least.
If not why write that scene into the book? (If it’s to show Asher being kind to Olivia and her mom, there are other situations showcasing that)
Overall, I did enjoy the book and the characters. Would love to read a sequel about Marisol’s story

This audiobook was a great overall listen. I enjoyed the unique storyline of hoarding and the struggles Darcy has faced directly related to that made it an interesting read.
I do think a few things weren't necessary in the book, the side romance with Asher felt a little forced and more of a plot convenience that didn't really need to be there. I did enjoy seeing Darcy try to face the relationship struggles with her mother and her grandmother. The way she navigated her mother's hoarding and then realized she almost had something in common with her mother was a great realization to see as a reader.

A bookish read that I thought looked interesting, and would have taken less time to read if I haven't been busy. Fun Fact: My youngest sister chose this book for me to read out of all the books I own (kindle and physical.)
Onto the story, I liked Darcy and Marisol's friendship, and it was actually the main thing I enjoyed about the book. Marisol's family dynamic, her fashion-sense (even though I have none of that), and the descriptions of the food her family made were well-done. Though I'd probably be like Darcy and need a much milder version of the food. And the one other highlight I will give Darcy is when she smashed that drama-play role and her ability to hoard words.
I do like how the story of Peter Pan is included throughout the book, even though I didn't fully enjoy actually reading the book 'Peter Pan'. Don't hate.
Asher was okay as the love interest, even though he technically had a girlfriend for most of the book. Hated Bryn and London, had no love or interest in their characters. Tess was a very interesting character and I loved that scene of her storming into the Yellow Feather, demanding things of her ex-husband/fiance (can't fully remember which one.) I was laughing at that scene.
But, overall an okay book that I liked.

There are so many things to love about this book! Darcy is my soul sister with her love for books and working in a used bookstore. Her love for her family is endearing and I love the characters that populate her life. This is a wonderful novel about love and trust.
I received this book from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

i wanted this book to be better. i think it had a lot of potential but i was just expcting something else. as i read: it’s a little odd with the word thing on the beach like that would never happen. i think marisol getting so mad about darcy not telling her about the letter was a little unrealistic.
those were kinda my only thoughts because the book was a little boring. i think it didnt need to be as long as it was. i also think darcy and asher are really great together but i just wanted to see more of their relationship. i also just got kinda bored. i think the book focused more on darcy's relationship with her mom and the hoarding than was necessary, especilly because it;'s marketed as a romance. i did love that marisol and darcy never got really mad at eachother. i also like jase and marisol. i think the idea was good but i just wanted more of their reltionship. overall not my favorite but it was still an easy read.
