It leaves me excited to dive into more of this world! Don't be scared that there is not much explanation in the beginning, it will all become clearer!

Overall it was a good solid fantasy book. The first 'restart' was a bit info dump-y but that ended for the most part after that cycle. However, when more instances of info dumping came up it was very long and a bit tedious to get through. I know that was this was transcribed from a podcast so that could have been part of the issue but there were parts my eyes did glaze over. And some of the restarts seemed unnecessary to the point where it felt like some things were being put in just to increase page counts. There was a fair amount that could have been cut and it likely would have been a stronger story all around.

Also, it's subtitled ARC 1, which means it ends on a cliffhanger. And it is a doozy.

All that said it was still enjoyable and one I could conceivably re-read but there are many parts that I would skip over on that since I don't feel it adds anything to the main story itself.

I really like the concept of Magical School with a time loop. There are some pretty neat ideas presented within and the world feels both magical and mundane at the same time (which is a compliment). Zorian as a protagonist is interesting at the start he is very unlikeable but that's the point. He's a teenage mage who has family issues and generally wants to be left alone to do his own thing. The supporting cast is pretty well fleshed out, though only time will tell if and how Zorian will cultivate any of these relationships moving forward.
