Loved the book, thought the cliffhanger at the end was unnecessary, she could have written two more chapters

This is the third book I have read of Karina Halle’s while this one is not a spicy as the dark eyes duolgy, I still really like it. I wish their romance picked up more in book 1. I’m hoping this happens in book two. I really like the characters but I was craving more romance, I was expecting death to try and win her over of sorts. But I still really enjoyed this book.
I knew from the other reviews that the cliffhanger was going to happen but it still annoyed me to no tomorrow because I need to know what happens next!! Looking forward to the next book!

Some funny moments but the female lead felt weak, a lot of “huh/wtf” moments, I didn’t really agree with the male lead at times and there were some modern day pop culture references that I didn’t like (eg references to tiktok if I remember correctly)
