Sea witches, crazy Shamans, horny mermaids, mood weather, talking unicorns and a God of Death that talks dirty….I’m here for it all!
Slow moving for the first half of the book. There was so much information and so many characters with difficult names (due to the Finnish folklore) so this book took a while to get into. It was DENSE and the pacing was a bit slow. Looking back I get why we needed all of it and it added a lot of context and layers to the story. Once the pace picked up and Hanna met Death it was on! And Death takes “touch her you die” to a whole new level and I am here for it!
I really enjoyed the second half of the book. It was exciting and dark and spicy as hell. Death and Hanna have impeccable enemies-to-loves vibes with some Dom/sub action I didn’t know I needed. felt like a Voyeur in some scene because they were written so well.

This was based on Finnish mythology and we took a trip to the underworld in search of Hanna's father. I will say that Death was a gentleman and really wanted to tap that. This was like Beauty and the Beast and Hades and Persephone. But with Shamans and mermaids. I really didn't know where we were going in the beginning but once Death appeared with his skull mask I was like you know that's right. He's like 7 feet tall in all black and a skull mask with a deep voice. I had no idea what to envision so I looked up the author's vision board and Jason Momoa and a new book boyfriend was unlocked. You had me at Momoa. But then the cliffhanger with the misdirection I need to read book 2 but I can't yet. Someone tell me what happens.
