Hades & Persephone vibes with beauty and the Beast based around Finnish Mythology.

Hanna goes to Finland for her estranged fathers funeral. When she gets there all these strangers events keep happening and her fathers body is missing. Her father apprentice Rasmus says that he’s still alive and he needs Hanna’s help to get him. They go into Tuonela The Realm of the Dead. Where Hanna offers herself in place of her father as prisoner to the God of Death. Death is intrigued by Hanna and decides to try to fulfill a prophecy and takes her as his bride.

““Fear is the real death. It’s what keeps us from living. I should have been fully alive with you.”

In the second book we get to learn more about Hanna’s past and how she is connected to Tuonela. More of the prophecy is revealed and more questions are asked. You see Hanna learn and grow into her role as the new Goddess of Death and her relationship with Death gets hotter. I love the connection with her and Death and the relationship they’re building. He starts to see Hanna as his queen and that ending!!! I’m so excited for the next book in the series

“You told me you’d never love me,” she says quietly.
I nod. “I know I did.”
“That you’d pity me if I loved you.” “Then perhaps I want to pity you.” Perhaps I want to know what it fucking feels like for once in my damned life. To be loved

This book was so much fun. I adored all the characters and the world was very interesting. However I wish it was just a bit longer and the relationship between Death and Hanna a bit more slow burn.  Cliffhanger ending
