lighthearted

I thought this was sweet but it's really exclusively focused on those micro moments of flirtation or minor miscommunications between the protagonists which can either be perfect for a slow-burn or just tedious. In this case, it's a bit tedious. Most of the characters feel quite flat, even Yuuki Honda. Iori Souma, who is holding down multiple jobs for an unknown reason (maybe to pay for schooling?), seems to have more of a personality to reveal but there's not much to go on in this first volume.

This first volume was ok but I feel like there are better romance options out there.

I really enjoyed this! I didn't expect to like it that much to be honest but it was really good. The fmc is relatable and the art is pretty. Love triangles are not my thing but I'm still curious about how things will go.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for the chance to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Quick Summary: A college romance in the making

My Review: How I Met My Soulmate 1 by Anashin is the first installment in a new NA manga series.

About the Book: Yuuki, a college sophomore, longs to have a soulmate. She tries to put herself out there to meet a potential partner, but things don't go as planned. When she befriends Iori, he commits to helping her with her goal. While they grow closer, an old crush comes back on the scene. What will destiny have in store for each of them?

My Final Say: I loved this shojo manga! I can see a love triangle forming. I love the sweetness of the story itself. The characters are endearing. The artwork is sensational, and it brings the story to life all the more. I hope this is turned into a flick. Bring on volume 2!
