I loved this book. I can't say I've even seen most of Geena Davis's work, but I found this very relatable. Glad I picked this book up!
Insightful and entertaining. While lacking any salacious content, Davis regales us with really tidbits of how projects really came together in Hollywood. Her early years were uncommonly interesting told in a voice totally her own. As she finds her voice and herself, she becomes a champion at archery and goes on to found an organization that monitors gender roles in media. Honest and engaging, I enjoyed reading it much more than I expected.

I love Geena Davis and this book was wonderful. I loved all the stories about her various roles throughout her career. I respect the fact that she didn’t include every detail of her personal life—her book, her choice what goes in. The audiobook was excellent.
It seems that people often think celebrities are just like the characters they play (although logically, you know that's not true). Enter Geena Davis, an accomplished actor and resident bad ass when it comes to some of her movie roles. Davis pulls back the curtain on this, and reveals herself in her accomplished memoir "Dying of Politeness". She examines the start of her career, from modeling to jumping into "Tootsie", and then on a path to the iconic Thelma of "Thelma & Louise". Underneath it is, Davis is transparent and reflective on her journey, and occasionally really funny. She sets firm boundaries of what she will not discuss, and the book is not lesser because of it. Her writing on the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media is incredibly inspirational. A great book to spend some time with.
