I read it all, but. . . .

The mystery kept me reading but in the end there were no surprises. I figured out "whodunnit" about halfway through. The bigger problem was that the main character was so incredibly unlikeable. At every turn she made absolutely the worst decision so by the end I didn't really care what happened to her. I guess if you're out at the pool and need something to keep you occupied it wasn't a bad choice. Fast read without requiring much work or attention.

Johnny and Veronica have been mostly happily married for a few years, but there are definitely secrets within this marriage. Those secrets and others get exposed when Johnny becomes a local hero by finding a lost boy while on a hike and this event will change their lives forever.

I absolutely hated every character in this story, yet I couldn't stop reading. I had to know if the secrets would get out and the repercussions that would happen when they did. The story was all about the webs people weave and the dangers of those webs unraveling. It was a good quick read.

Saw the ending coming from a mile away. I lost sympathy with Veronica early on and found myself skimming to finish and verify what I already knew.

This book was... sort of fine. I don’t mind characters that are hateable, as long as they’re interesting. These weren’t, unfortunately. The plot was also completely predictable and the writing somewhat repetitive. Everything else I’ve read by this author I have loved, but hey, once in awhile things don’t work out. That’s okay. I’ll still read her next book and I bet it will be awesome.

Super predictable with characters you dislike and don’t care what happens to them

Unlikeable, irritating characters. Would have been a bit disgruntled if I’d paid for it, but it was an Amazon free first read fortunately!

Diving into the first book of the year and I’m pretty disappointed. I thought it was extremely predictable step by step from the get go. I was hoping I was wrong and kept reading and I shouldn’t have. It would’ve been a lot better with a less predictable “twist”
