Dark, chilling, sexy, and intensely thrilling. Loved it!

I didn’t like this nearly as much as Jane Doe. I saw the solve coming a mile away and never warmed to the main character. Unlike Jane, she wasn’t the kind of bad I wanted to root for.

False Step was so unpredictable I was always a few steps between the characters - and that actually felt amazing. Stone is amazing at psychological thrillers that are like puzzle pieces, especially because the characters are so very relatable.

Nice rollercoaster read. Veronica is having an affair with her husband’s best friend Mitch.
She is doing it as revenge (also in a warped sense of justification not to divorce him)
Her husband discovers a missing child on his usual morning walks and the life she wants to keep private is blown open by the media.
Although I suspected the twist at the end, it still was nice going through the motions with the characters.
I recommend

Ugh. I was hopeful about this book, but it turned into a paranoia train that wouldn't stop. It felt repetitive at times, and the main character was extremely anxiety induced that it made me feel extremely uneasy about normal things that happened in the book. The last 25% was actually thrilling but the very end was a dud.

I got this kindle download free from Amazon. I just dug into it without really reading about it. Had to stop reading. WAY too triggery if you have trauma issues.

False Steps is an engaging story with a few unexpected twists. While I soon thought I knew what had happened, I was not entirely correct, and I enjoyed seeing how Stone wrapped up the storyline. Veronica is a likable, flawed main character, and the interaction with her family members draws the reader into the crisis' that V is facing in her daily life. The difficulties in her marriage, the challenges in her work, the estrangement in her family can seem a bit too much in places in the story, but by the end, it ties well together and makes for a nice plot movement.

Without spoiling the ending, I will add that I found the final chapters the most difficult. Not in what had occurred but in the sadness for those who were affected in the story.

I quickly plowed through Stone's novel and enjoyed the time spent with the Bradley family and friends.

This was an enjoyable read with a few little twists. Nothing totally crazy and out of the box but it did keep my interest

I hate to say it but I was somewhat disappointed with this. It was a whole lot of nothing for 90% of the book. However, the last 10% held on and wouldn't let go. Kept me up well past my bedtime on a school night.
