I'm a Carley Fortune fan, but I think the main characters in this one fell short for me.  They were very wishy-washy, either all in or nothing at all, and I didn't enjoy that.  I thought the side characters were great fun, and the plot was interesting.  Overall, I liked it, but didn't love it.

Guhhhh. Loved. This Summer Will Be Different remains my fave, but this is maybe my second fave of this author’s. There are a couple things that frustrated me about the way things resolved (who went to who, I disagreed with) but overall this is such a warm cup of tea to read.

2.5 stars.

This summer I have read every book Carley Fortune has written to date, and boy am I glad I didn't read this one earlier in that journey, as I feel like it definitely would've discouraged me from picking up any of her other books. "Meet Me at the Lake" was kind of a mess. I didn't like Fern at all and I found Will to be a bit hollow. The premise of this book was intriguing, but I felt like the execution just wasn't quite for me. I didn't feel that much of a romantic connection between the two and I found them both a bit irritating as well. I think this book suffers from a second book slump, but, I do think her writing style has improved since. Definitely my least favorite Carley Fortune book though.
