I am a sucker for a Pride and Prejudice retelling...and they are usually not good. This one was fresh, fun, and modern. I really enjoyed that the story was told from multiple characters point of view and that the "Wickham" storyline was updated in a way that was not related to statutory rape (as is common in modern retellings). Overall very good.

I enjoyed it in the beginning but the end started feeling like a movie script.

Let me start by saying Pride and Prejudice is one of my all time favorites.

I usually refuse to read books that put a spin in the classic because I’m usually disappointed.

This one has so much potential due to the diversity of our main characters but my God is dragged.

And dragged
And dragged.

But despite itself, the story came together well in the end as we knew it would.

It was good… but we needed about 50 less pages.

This book is fun, but sadly, it wasn't enough for me.

The Bennet Women is a modern retelling of Austen's Pride and Prejudice and I loved searching and finding the similarities between the two stories. It's also a fresh take on this age-old classic, and it includes a huge cast of characters of colors and queer characters. However, I didn't "clicked" with them. Sure, they were nice characters but I didn't find myself rooting for them - maybe because I knew how the original story ended? Anyway, I also felt they were a lot of pot of views, some like EJ and Will were regular, other like Jamie were present from time to time. Then, sometimes, out of nowhere, we would have a new character's point of view, for like one or two chapters, then nothing else. I found that a bit odd, and it didn't help me to connect with them all - as soon as I started caring for someone, I was to read a new character's perspective, and at times, it was a bit too overwhelming.

But The Bennet Women is still a positive read, and if someone is looking for something fun and light-headed, then I would definitely recommend them The Bennet Women!

This book was a 5-star book until the last 30~45 minutes.

The book is amazing, the writing is phenomenal, the plot is so fun (every day i was missing the book) and the characters are endearing. I don’t remember much of pride and prejudice but this felt like a perfect book regardless.

The narrator of the audiobook was just perfect, too! The way she voiced different characters distinctly made it easy to follow through, and it made sense for each to sound the way they did; her narration wasn’t just different voices for different characters, but it was voice-acting where every character was obviously well-studied and their voicing had different mannerisms.

Lastly, my only problem was with the ending; it felt underwhelming and dragged. I love books which show life after the ending/epilogues, however, with The Bennet Women there wasn't enough of a time-skip to feel the feeling epilogues give, and it was just a lot of mellow moments where nothing major happens.

Also, I felt like there wasn't enough focus on the Bennet house, it was definitely there, but I didn't feel like the effects of its existence were integral to the story’s progression, they constantly mentioned it and its community, but there were few moments where I felt like it was really here.

At the end of the day, however, this book has definitely become one of my favourites and I will be recommending it to you and my friends xx

Heartfelt and fun

I very much enjoyed this story. The entire story has so much depth and purpose. The characters are fun and engaging with a plot and setting that are vivid and real. EJ is such a great personality. I like a story with multiple POV and thought the transitions were well done. Each characters POV was in the right place and find in a way that kept the story flowing.

The author suggested this book to me in the comments of a video I made about loving modern retellings of Jane Austen's work.

The structure was frustrated. As it changed POV, you'd read about the same moment of time.  However,  it didn't add anything to the story. It only messed with the pacing.
