Honestly a great prequel for the #murdertrending series. I'm glad I saved it for last because it made the end reveals that much better. After finishing the book, I can with 100% honesty say that I am disgusted (in the best way bc it's a horror novel). I feel like throwing up because of the emotions the descriptions forced out of me. Love love love this series. Will recommend this for any horror fan that wants something more dramatic and youthful compared to Stephen King.
Graphic: Death, Emotional abuse, Gore, Gun violence, Torture, Blood, Death of parent, Murder, Fire/Fire injury
Moderate: Panic attacks/disorders, Alcohol
Minor: Pedophilia, Suicide
Rarely has a book left my jaw wide open more often than this read.
I was constantly waiting for the next moment Id be able to pick it back up and continue, and it was racing through my mind to figure out the mystery of why this event was happening to these characters and what connections they had. These characters are so unique and similar to Karen McManus’ in the sense that they are all somehow connected, but not through super obvious ways.
The writing style is very easy to understand and reads like a film, with stunning descriptions of the vivid settings and experiences the characters go through. McNeil does a good job of building these grand rooms and describing them in ways that make it very easy to visualize something so grand.
The twist at the end left me wanting more, though. It was very shocking and it did leave me in awe, don't get me wrong! However, I found myself not quite like it. I was shocked, but not because I cared necessarily, but because it was a very original one I did not see coming. While I can appreciate greatly the level of writing it takes to pull something like that off, it left me slightly confused in the earlier sections of the novel. I very much wish this book had a sequel to it specifically, or even just a few more chapters to better wrap up loose ends.
I would still recommend this because I liked reading it, though!

I truly enjoyed this book… So far of all the murder trending book trilogy that I have read I’ve yet to not enjoy one. I really enjoy how the author always get you all the way to the end to where you were just positive you know what’s going on and then right at the last chapter she’ll throw in that last a little hitch. I think that’s awesome.
I really liked how detailed the description of each individual room is. And I really enjoyed the character building. The only reason it’s not getting five stars for me It’s because I felt like there was too many characters and I was having a hard time remembering who was what and how they were connected and so on and so forth.
Perhaps if there had been like a little chart at the end of the book or the beginning of the book that just had a very brief description of who the person was and what their gig was that would’ve helped me.
Overall though every book by this author I’ve recommended and I will continue to do so so long as she keeps turning out such awesome books.

This was amazing. The way it was written and the overall mystery were great. But the end with the twist, I was expecting one but got another. I also loved how it all tied into the next book that I read. Also, I loved how it was all so well written.
