This is the last of the Immortals After Dark books… for now. The author is still writing them. But now for an overall review. I love that these books are standalone but connect in the big picture story. Each of them is witty and fun with a good balance of plot and spice, though they are first and foremost a romance series so keep that in mind. I’ve been reading these for over a decade and it’s been so much fun to go back and finally connect all the dots.
Eleven years, eighteen books, and three media later:
3. Still so much to learn, discover.
2. Robert Petkoff must be protected at all costs.
1. This series absolutely ruins me.
Munro was one heck of a ride, absolutely worth the wait. A slow burn at first, but ultimately a page-turner. When Ren & Munro became just a little too much, old favorites refocused the plot - reminding you there’s a whole Accession, and not all players have not been revealed. Bottom line: she keeps writing, I’ll keep reading.

Uh...
What used to be witty and funny 10 years ago (the IAD series), now feels goofy and dated to me. Perhaps my expectations were too great after such an extended hiatus from Kresley Cole. But, I think I may have just moved on from her writing style and voice onto something with more bite and less comedy.

It’s Kresley Cole so you already know it’s gonna be fire. It was so nice to revisit this world, I loooved Munroe and his kickass mate.
This wasn’t my first book in the Immortals After Dark series but somehow the world seemed different, more chaotic. Wicca-tech? Luber? Time travel?
I liked the chemistry between Munro and Ren. I loved how feisty and fierce she was. What I didn’t like was how much “telling” was done. We were told how close they became and how she slowly began to fall in love with him. I feel like that part was kind of rushed. The confrontation with two big bads also seemed like sloppy writing. I liked the book up until maybe 60% after which so much telling was done and the story became rushed. I thoroughly enjoyed the first few books in this series and skipped a few in between this one and book 8. If the rest are anything like this one, I doubt I’ll read them. However, I will give the first 5 a reread.
