Devin is a wee bit of a diva. Yet I can’t fault him, because he’s been in the acting world for 35 years. So far in his life he’s experienced: being the cash-cow for his parents, the harshness of Hollywood during his childhood, the sexualization that happens of newly turned 18 year olds in Hollywood, a failed marriage, and only having the company of people you pay to be around you. Yet with all of this that he’s experienced I found it hard to tolerate him in the beginning because it doesn’t come across like harmless diva behaviour but rather just being rude.
I found Alex the more likeable between the two in the beginning, and a lot more relatable. Devin’s character got better the longer he spent in Alex’s hometown.
This is a story about two flawed people just trying to make it in their own worlds. Granted, they are two vastly different worlds (Hollywood vs small town in Florida) but Alex and Devin both have very human flaws. While I did at times talk out loud to myself, and have to put the book down in frustration, I also finished this rather quickly (for being a physical copy). For every time I put it down, I was picking it back up within the hour.

I liked the roommate more, but it’s probably just cuz this had a lot of supernatural plot and i got bored lol. Plus I felt the angst wasn’t as strong and subsequently the makeups less rewarding. However, I love Devin and there was so much well written and funny and I love Rosie’s work. I’m sure I’ll be stealing some of her lines for my own fanfics lmao. Love this concept, executed well and love that he confirmed that Colby is queer LMAO
