Gibson's political and emotional poems pack a punch with each line delivered. We get a glimpse of their private world along with commentary on the political climate we are living in now. Gibson blends both so we remember our worlds are one and individual, all at the same time. There were so many moments I wanted to cry, and so many lines I saw myself described. Truly wonderful.

Lord of the Butterflies collects Andrea Gibson’s latest poetry into one place. It is a nuanced look at gender, romance, loss and family. It is the written word bearing open a heart for all to fall into.
I have loved Andrea’s spoken word poetry for a long time, and reading this one was as heart wrenching as I expected. Pure life poured out onto the pages. I cannot read Andrea’s words without feeling the emotions that caused those stanzas to pour out onto the pages.
