Lord of the Butterflies is a poetry collection focused on queer relationships/identity, politics, and violence. As someone who is relatively new to reading poetry, this was an accessible collection and I am interested in reading their other work.

I dipped out of my comfort zone here for a book of poetry after coming across a video of Gibson reading their "Love Letter from the Afterlife," which brought me to tears. This collection covers gun violence, politics in the era of Trump, LGBTQ+ love and identity. Gibson's poetry is clear and no-frills but still creative and vivid.

Very evocative moving writing. Several made me cry. Several I want to carry around in my pocket. One of my faves was Said the Wishing Well on the more cheery side, and the day you died because you wanted to on the sad side.
