I loved all the poems about loss, queerness and American politics. I could do without the sappier love poems, but that is my personal preference. I would still recommend this book to anyone looking for an entry point into poetry.

I wish I had read this sooner but I don't think I'd have been ready for it yet.
The description in the About the Author section does a better job than I can at describing this, so: "...a book of protests, panic attacks, and pride parades. These poems riot against gun violence, homophobia, and white supremacy, while jubilating gender expansion, queer love, and the will to stay alive."
They also mentioned Sonya Renee and The Body in Not an Apology in the acknowledgments which I loved because I'm currently reading that. So that was an unexpected and v pleasant surprise!
