This was wild! Didn’t necessarily blow my mind or anything but it was definitely unique and kept me engaged. TW for rape: nothing on screen, but in someone’s past, and that person has to interact with their rapist on screen so that could be triggering for some readers

There was more about this book that I liked than disliked, so that's good at least.
The characters were great, especially Jayla and Madison; including the ones you weren't supposed to like, they were well written. The atmosphere was perfect and provided an eerie backdrop for this unsettling and pretty gory story. I also loved how the story took off right from the beginning, no wasting time at all, a great way to keep my attention.
What I didn't like is the FMC, Lainey, kept trying to play off what was happening as a "prank". Clearly something is happening and to keep pretending that it's a harmless prank is just annoying and a bit irresponsible. Then the ending....oh jeez that ending. I won't spoil it, but I will say I was disappointed by the reveal and the resolution. If it's possible, it seemed both needlessly drawn out, and rushed at the same time. Just no.
With that said, I did like the book and will try this author again. I just hope they get better at ending their stories.
