A great book to get you in the mood for spooky season! I went into this one pretty blind and I'm glad I did. I enjoyed the storyline with the paranormal/horror elements. I liked the characters and that they made rational choices versus every horror movie mistake. This story is dark and creepy with Blair Witch vibes for sure. Overall this was a 4 star read for me and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a horror story.

Four stars because even though the dialogue leaned more YA at times, this book did genuinely spook me.
It is an enjoyable horror novel with some interesting twists.

This is really the best horror book I’ve read in a while! It gives you horror while also making you interested in the relationship dynamics. It gives you twists without being stupid. This person really knows how to write a book especially plot twists that don’t ruin the book.
Solid 4 stars.
I loved the atmosphere of this book. The cozy, isolated island that becomes a lot more frightening when you lose your ways off of it. It was the appropriate amount of creepy mixed in with well written characters. Kelley Armstrong is one of the best at writing characters you can believe exist. They are always the right amount flawed and well, human like and I love it.
Laney is our MC, she is still reeling from a pandemic fueled divorce and the death of her sister shortly after. To afford things she is renting out her private island she kept in the divorce that she loves so much. Only there are people who want her to sell and some of them will go to great depths to scare her away. That is all that is occurring on the island... isn't it?
I don't want to say much else about the book for fear of hitting spoiler territory. But it is absolutely worth the read. Narrator is one I already know I enjoy listening to and she did a good job reading this book as well.
