I loved this book. I was really drawn in from the beginning and couldn't stop listening. It's genetic engineering gone totally wrong and the world strange as a result. However as the book progressed it felt less and less about Borne and more about Rachel. Despite that issue I still really really enjoyed this book

I liked the atmosphere, I liked the meditation on parenting, I liked the post-apocalyptic world. I kind of expected more from the ending, though. A bit of an anticlimax and not many questions answered! The rain magically made everything better at the end, the Magician wasn't really explored as a character, what was the alternate world? what was the point of the boxes full of Bornes, were they going to eat the city? and then what, it's just full of giant Bornes? Wick's letter wasn't much of a payoff either, throughout the book it seemed like Rachel's parents were dead and she just wasn't talking about how it happened, not that she couldn't remember her parents dying. Maybe I missed something early on where she says that, but it didn't seem like much of a reveal. I expected the letter would say Wick had created Borne as a weapon against Mord or something. I liked the book for its writing but the overall story disappointed me a bit.

Slow paced, frustratingly opaque, and I couldn't have cared less about the fates of Rachel, Wick, or Borne. One of those books I debated abandoning but stuck with, stubbornly (and naively) believing it would rally.
