I found the beginning of the book slightly boring and a bit hard to get into, which is why I had to take away one star. After reading this book you’ll know a lot about Katherine of Aragon and it definitely contains a lot of information. The end was so interesting, I did not want to stop reading. I definitely recommend this book to anyone, who enjoys historical/historical fiction books.

At first this was a "So bad it's good" guilty pleasure kind of read. Then it just got tiresome. Alison Weir writes really fantastic nonfiction, and she writes it like a story. I thought that would translate to fiction, but in this case it did not. I'm still going to give Innocent Traitor a shot, because I adore Jane Gray. I'm not hoping for much, though.

I got this as a giveaway! I asked for it because I'm a huge fan of historical fiction novels, and I love the Tudor era. This was a good read. Good enough that I looked for her other novels and I'm deciding which one to read next. Poor Katherine, she was always a tragic figure and this book really gets into how terribly she was treated. It's all the more sad for all the years she was happy in between. If you like the era and historical fiction, this book will definitely be a great read!

Wow. Wow. Wow. I will never stop thinking of this book. You've got to love Tudor history to love the story. It was the perfect length and pace to capture a truly intense and devastating time in human history. Can't wait to read the next!

This book was interesting, as I'm fascinated with the English monarchy! However, as you can see from my start/finish dates, it took me close to a month to read. It was really really slow, and there were parts that dragged on and on and on. I mean, how much detail did we need as Katherine was waiting for Henry to divorce her?? I'm glad I read it, but it was the most difficult book I've read in awhile.

I liked this historical fiction centering Katherine of Aragon by Weir. There's nothing new about this historical figure, but I do like historical fiction told from the viewpoints of the women, the principle characters we rarely hear from. Of course, there are ups and downs to Katherine's life, and Weir does a very good job of portraying them as rich and sumptuous, happy, or just downright stark and depressing.

I listened to the audiobook and I was hoping to listen to the other books in the series, but the narrator seems to think that a man's voice is always shouting, which is rather off-putting.

I listened to the book on audio, an though it was very long, I really liked it. I had a passing understanding of what happened to Katherine of Aragon at the hands of Henry VIII as I’ve read a few other books about the Tudor personalities, however, there’s nothing like a first person narrative written by a Tudor historian (Weir) to really give you some perspective on a situation. I finished the book having so much admiration for Katherine and the composure and strength she showed in the face of such adversity. I am a fan of Weir’s non-fiction, now I am a fan of her fiction as well.
