I really didn't like this book but found something about it enough to finish it until the end - it felt longer than it needed to be, drawn out, conflicts between characters that didn't need to be included other than the build on the strain, storylines that feel like they just drop off and go nowhere (avoiding spoilers - but the ride in the elevator? What happened?!). I notice that I particularly struggle with storylines built on secrets that characters decide is their burden to bear and theirs alone and that's the driving force behind a plot. Struggle bus, a big fat struggle bus in seeing the value of this story. Forgettable.

Very hesitant at the start as already on the second page the protagonist describes herself as having big breasts. Feels like it was written by a man. Obsessed with hymens. Unpleasant main character that makes horrible decision, yet I‘m supposed to relate to her.

Also, in the end there was too much trauma for me. Too difficult to read.

A book that jumps around too much with multiple time lines that end too quickly at times. The writing is beautiful but at the same time clumsy.  The ending is ambiguous so not a satisfactory conclusion for me, but perhaps this was the point. Elle as the main character is torn between the love of her husband, Peter, and her love of her childhood friend Jonas, an "accident" keeping them apart. Elle was not a likeable character and her mother even less so. I didn't love the  book but didn't hate it either. The Book should come with trigger warnings.

Absolutely the worst book I've ever encountered.
