Actual rating: 2.5. Some good ideas but I don't think I walked away from it with as many usable lessons on communication as I've had with other texts. Also, it lacks an understanding of nuance in relationships and intersectionality that I can't fully express right now.
Read for work. In some ways it was typical conflict resolution stuff, but there were some big picture concepts too that I appreciated seeing applied here:
-separating story from fact
-seeing everyone's actions as rational to that person
-how others relax when they feel respected & trust your motives (hello, foreign diplomats!)
-concluding with Who does What by When

Book could be summarized through the chapter headings. Skimmed the books and examples. Overall book was not helpful for me.

Good ideas and tools, but the book could benefit from a reorganization and rewrite. The amount of acronyms suggested by the authors to remember their strategies was staggering. Some examples also rang untrue. However, at the heart of Crucial Conversations is good advice; if anything, it's a refresher on common sense.
