My main issue in this novel and biggest reasoning for the low rating, is the lack of plot. I don’t feel as though this story really went anywhere, and it was just 200 pages of repetitive metaphors and eye-rolling drama. After the synopsis I was expecting a big life-altering event but everything was laid out clearly and there were no shocking reveals. The most that I took away from this novel was that our main character’s sister has had a lot of boyfriends, and is a tyrant when it comes to wedding planning. It was very basic and anti-climatic, and very repetitive.

I listened to this story as an audiobook, and it was very easy to listen to as it is a little over four hours. I had it on as background when I cleaned and was driving to work, but I was never hooked enough to listen to it straight through. In fact, I kind of relished taking the breaks from the dramatics.

Not my favorite of this authors books, but a quick and easy read, nonetheless. It did have me remembering all the fun and not so fun times as a teenager.

2.5

I know this book is older but I did not enjoy it. The whole book the MC is being shamed for being tall which was annoying to read about. Also the dad marrying someone young and cheating on their mom was just not for me. There were struggles in the book but I felt not much effort for the main character to get over them and face them.

This does not hold up but I am leaving my 4 star review because nostalgia.

I know this was one of her first, if not her first, novels, but it felt pretty flat. The little character development there was felt quite forced, and ultimately I think this either needed to be a short story or much longer with more development and a less cheesy message.

Quick read but the story didn’t have much of a plot. 2.5 stars

It's not that it was a bad book, I just didn't understand the point. It essentially had no plot, and I was confused and also more than a little creeped out by Sumner and Haven's relationship.

It was good but nothing overly impressive.

2.5/5 stars

This is definitely my least favourite Sarah Dessen book. I this book is or is one of her first books she has written so obviously she improved as a writer. This book is almost 200 pages long so if you are looking for a quick contemporary book I do recommend this.

This book is told in first person and we follow the main character Haven. Haven's father and mother are divorced and her father is remarrying. He works as a news sports person (you know what I am talking about) and is getting married to Lorna Queen who is the weather person or as they call her "Weather Pet" Her sister Ashley is getting married as well to a guy named Lewis Warsher and Haven finds him very boring.

This book is centered around weddings and you can tell by the summery I wrote above. If you haven't heard Sarah Dessen is coming out with a new book called Once and For All which also centers around weddings.

I found this book short. Like really short. Again only 200 pages.

Haven is the main character of this book and she feels very insecure about her height. She is 5'11" and is taller than most people in her town. If you are looking for a book with a very tall main character I do recommend this book.

There is a lot of family drama in this book. Well at least it seemed like a lot to me. They argued quite a lot but as a family I can still tell from reading that they loved and they all cared for each other.

Overall I thought this book was just Okay.
