This book was ok. Nothing too good or bad about it. It made me curious what I would have thought about it if I had read it when it first came out. It was all about a girl who is 15 and it came out when I was about 13 or 14. It made me wonder if I would have had a different perception of the world if I had been reading this kind of stuff when I was a kid.

For fifteen-year-old Haven, life is changing too quickly. She's nearly six feet tall, her father is getting remarried, and her sister—the always perfect Ashley—is planning a wedding of her own. Haven wishes things could just go back to the way they were. Then an old boyfriend of Ashley's reenters the picture, and through him, Haven sees the past for what it really was, and comes to grips with the future.

A lovely coming-of-age book and a perfect description of looking back at the past through rose-coloured glasses.

It was short and ended abruptly. Whatcha thought was the end of a chapter was the end of the book!

That was actually a disappointment... I loved her other books but this one? nah...

I really enjoued this books actually! It was a pretty quick read and I could easily connect to Haven and her experiences since I myself am pretty tall and I could understand her feelings about everything. In some ways I always knew that Haven and her sister, Ashley, still had that bond going on even if things were at little... rocky at the time. "That Summer" did represent how summer is when things change because your not as busy and the fog of you thoughts don't obscure things that are actually quite obvious. I did like the book and as before Sarah Dessen didn't dissapoint.

I didnt' love this one. Haven kind of annoyed me and the story felt a little incomplete. I also was taken aback by the phrase "the bus that drove retarted kids" ugh! I know it was published in 1996 but it still makes me cringe when I read a sentence like that.

i don't remember anything that happened in this book. going through my read list and i cannot for the life of me remember the plot or characters. I love Dessen's novels and I'm not sure why i only gave it 2 stars but the fact that it isn't memorable in any way lets me know it must not have been that good.
