I really enjoyed this Beauty and the Beast retelling. I especially loved that the fmc, Alix, is an older, more experienced character. And when she’s mistaken for someone else and abducted to another world she brings her modern personality to a not so modern place! I’m a sucker for fae so of course I loved Daemon and his overprotective self! I laughed, I grinned and I can’t wait for book two in this interconnected series.

Easy 4⭐️ for me. The world was interesting, the plot was unique. I really liked that she took a real world event and added a fantasy cause. It feels like the author really spent time and thought into creating a world.

This was such a fun and entertaining read. A Thorn in Every Heart offers a delightful retelling of Beauty and the Beast, following Alix—a violinist escaping a cheating ex—and Daemon, a cursed man hunting for someone who might just change his fate.

The writing is witty, the pacing quick, and the magical world was immersive without being overwhelming. I laughed out loud multiple times and was totally hooked. If you enjoy fast-paced romantic fantasy with a fairy tale twist, I highly recommend this one.

This book was everything I've been wanting in a romantasy lately! Incredibly well written (I especially loved the way the first few chapters mirrored each other). Great banter and spice that started early. The allusions to Beauty and the Beast were numerous and super cleverly woven in without being corny. And Benjamin Sands as a narrator...🥵🫠. I will have to seek out more of his work. What a voice!

I struggle between giving this 4.75 and 5 stars. It is so close to perfect but if I nitpick I have to say I don't think I've ever seen so much cursing in a romance book! I don't mind cursing but in fantasy, the use of modern swear words stands out more. It also could have been a little shorter and still just as good; though I also don't mind that because it means I got to enjoy it for longer! Hoping the sequel holds up!

Did you love Dimitri from Anastasia when you were a child, but now as an adult you want him just a little more unhinged? Well buckle up buttercup, because here he is. It’s a Beauty and the Beast inspired (lowkey too different to be a retelling), with a hint of Anastasia. Lowkey my expectations were in the dumps cause this is as a pick from a Facebook ad, but it was so good.

What I loved:
Banter-
I was genuinely lol-ing throughout this book. The FMC and MMC had a chemistry I just ate up the whole time.

Creative take-
I love the idea of Belle not returning, but writing about her experience and selling it as a fiction novel. And then her granddaughter discovers it was all true?? So fun.

FMC-
She’s an ADULT. Not even young adult, but full on 29/30. Loved this so much. Especially the idea of recalibrating your life at that age.

Sushi-
Sushi. The cat. A cat named sushi. That is all.

What I didn’t love:
Typos/inconsistencies-
If you don’t care about this kind of thing, you’ll have a great time. There were definitely some moments I wished an editor had done a bit more proof-reading before publishing though.

Female audio narrator had an annoying voice intonation choice for the fmc. Almost had me dnf’ing this one
