I loved this.
I love a fairytale retelling, and I love it even more when it is Beauty and the Beast, and this book is no exception. It was such a fun take on a classic tale.
I loved every character we met along this story. Well, I mean, except for Thorne. But, that was expected. What they did with the Beasts character I was not expecting at all. I genuinely am excited to revisit this world, and see more of the characters' stories. Thank goodness I got approved for an ARC of Kas and Dessa's story. I felt like the characters we met were well developed and very distinct which is pure joy to read. Oh, and the main characters aren't teenagers!
I feel like we had a good general view of the world as a whole and of the areas that Alix visited during her tale. I can't wait to learn more about the world these stories are taking place in, in subsequent books. I loved that there was chapter header art, I don't usually care for spicy book art. But, that is a me thing and the biggest thing that would stop me from getting a physical copy. It's a wierd hang up I know. I am just at a weird place with spice being in every single book it feels like, the plot, though in this was captivating and utterly engrossing. It really was a unique tale, and I could see myself re-reading this one.
If you are looking for a spicy Beauty and the Beast retelling, I can't recommend this one enough. I loved reading it, and am eagerly looking forward to the next book.

This rating is definitely based on the vibes, but what amazing vibes they were.
I loveeedd this retelling of beauty and the beast, and found the plot unique with there still being references to the original (Disney version) of the story. More people need to talking about this book, and I cannot wait to see book 2 come out!

Absolutely love the here for a good time not a long time vibes. The characters are all great and Alix and Isabelle are - for once - a decently intelligent Beautys! In a sea of denser than a brick FMC in Beauty and the Beast retellings it was so nice to see that. The twists on the retellings were great and the little modern story Easter eggs were great. I see you, cat named Pooka, Odessa constantly using a fork, Aurelia covering her tower in paintings and picking the rapunzel flowers. For a stand alone retelling it was smooth with little to no seriously slow points and as a recovering people pleaser I may have related to Alix a bit more than I care to admit...
I am excited for more stories in Ellender and for Kas and Dessa's book!

This Anastasia meets Beauty and the Beast retelling is an absolute masterpiece. I zipped through it quite fast! It's Fae, its human, it's portal, it's everything and more!
I hate what's happening to Alix at the beginning of this book. I was completely up in arms about it but it was the catalyst for everything that followed. And honestly, the majority of what happens wouldn't have happened either if Daemon wasn't as... special that he just assumed everything without asking any questions and then dumb enough to not believe. But we love you, Daemon!
But seriously, I adore him. Was he the brightest crayon in the box at that specific moment in time? Absolutely not but he certainly made up for it!
And what can I say about our delightful king? Nothing polite, that's for sure. And that's all he gets! My love, my girl, my favourite side character, Odessa. Don't get me wrong, I love our Daemon's friends, his men, the ones that kept him sane at the beginning of the book, but Dessa is snarky and sassy and we love her for the attitude alone! Plus, you know, she's a FRIEND.
Honestly, I could chatter on all day but there's a character limit
