Whew! Kate King surely knows how to write a book that I'm gonna love. It's a Beauty and the Beast retelling without feeling like it's getting shoved in your face. There's little subtle nods to other media that aren't as hugely obvious either (Daemon's hand thing??? Mr. Darcy would be proud). I never felt like I was bored while I was waiting for something to happen nor did I feel like I was rushed in to everything. This was an absolute delight and I will 100% be purchasing this when it comes out for my Beauty and the Beast obsessed bestie! Thanks, Kate, for the ARC! This review is obviously completely honest and I will continue to gush about this one whenever I have the chance!

Before this book, you couldn't have convinced me that a MMC calling the FMC "peaches" throughout the book would be attractive, but here I am.
Although I was never a Beauty & the Beast or Anastasia girlie as a child, the idea that this is a modern fairytale mash-up of the two is so unique and I loved it!
The FMC being a 29 year old broke musician whose husband cheated on her felt more real than the typical 18-19 year old girl we normally see in romantasies whose never been through anything difficult in her life. I appreciated the more "real" FMC.
Our MMC was a babe. Some of the things that left this man's mouth had my jaw on the floor. The "touch her and die," fated mates, found family tropes were right up my alley.
The spice was also just right! As much as I love the slow burn tension style romance books, I liked the bits and pieces of spice sprinkled throughout the book because they couldn't stay away from each other. It was a nice change of pace rather than waiting 300-400 pages for a 1st kiss like I would normally want in a book.
Overall, I ate this up. I struggled to put it down and lost sleep over wanting to continue reading it.
