Okay the first few chapters had me worried cus I didn’t feel much from the MMC and I wanted to shake the FMC for not causing a scene and punching everyone lmao
But oh my godddd the tension 🤭

I wish Thorne had been a bit more convincing?? And I’m still left with a few questions but I got my HEA so who cares 🤭
Also I have to give major props for having different character art at the start of EVERY chapter! I’m a girly who struggles picturing characters in my head so I usually need to look up character art constantly lol so having them smack me in the face every chapter was so amazing
HOWEVER ! While I have no problem reading smut in public, I don’t really look at smutty art in public lmao so imagine my shock when I turned the page and saw smut art heading a chapter lmao
So maybe don’t read this one at work

This is one of those books that I knew almost immediately that I was going to love it. It is definitely my type of book. It is a Beauty and the Beast inspired books with a bit of a twist. Imagine if Belle never broke the Beast's curse and instead went back to her life. Now, decades later, her granddaughter is mistaken for Belle and is kidnapped in the hopes that she will be able to break the curse before time runs out. This is kind of a quick synopsis of the book, but I promise it is so much more. I think one of the reasons I loved this book so much is that it kind of reminded me of one of my favorite YA books. There's a another book that I love that is a Beauty and the Beast retelling in which a girl from our world gets kidnapped and taken into a fantasy world in the hopes that she can break the prince's curse and this book feels almost like the much more grown up version of that book. I love it when you take a character from the modern world and portal them into a fantasy world. It is such a fun trope. I really enjoyed the cast of characters in this book, and I hope that all of Daemon's group get their own book because I will definitely read them all. I will have to admit that this book is a bit smuttier than what I usually go for (I probably should have know it was going to be a bit on the smut heavy side when the main characters meet with a one night stand turned kidnapping) but I really love the overall story and feel like the smut was decently balanced. I think there are some pop culture references that I could probably do without, but I feel like the author used them to show how Alix was from our world and out of place in the fantasy world. I really liked how each chapter head was fully illustrated. It felt like a bonus, but just be aware that some of the chapter heads are a bit explicit. I read this book through Kindle Unlimited, but I loved it so much that I think I'll have to invest in a physical copy for myself. I can see myself rereading this book over again, and I'm definitely plan on preorder the physical copy of the next book in the series because I have a feeling that I'll love that one as well. This book was definitely a hit for me and proves that I'll never get tired of Beauty and the Beast retellings.
