This was one of the readings I was most looking forward to. I left with very high expectations, which were also exceeded! Alix is a 29-year-old girl, trying to divorce her husband who cheated on her, and after a one-night stand with an handsome stranger she finds herself catapulted into the world of the fae, with whom she is much more involved than she thinks. The enchanted world where our protagonist finds herself is one of the most magical I have read about, and this is all due to the author's writing style. I read this in one day which is always a good recommendation. What a super fun, spicy, plot-driven take on some old fairy tales! I LOVED this book. The FMC, Alix, was relatable and enjoyable. Our MMC is DOWN BAD for her and unhinged in the best way.
While you ultimately know where the story is going to go (and thank goodness, I need a good time), this was a really fresh take and I highly recommend it. It wasn't 600 pages long, but had great pacing and wrapped up without feeling rushed. I can't wait to see the next book in this series of interconnected standalones!

The best part was the chapter heading illustrations, which went from cute to spicy and everything in between. I loved the visualizations, and was looking forward to finishing each chapter to see what was next.

This was a fun retelling of beauty and the beast. I loved the concept of portals and modern girl falling into fantasy. The world itself was vivid and easy to imagine and wanted more of it. At first the language caught me off guard because I wasn't expecting it but it grew on me and easily fell into the spicy scenes and rest of the characters who were all fun and again wanted more of them. I also loved reading lines that hinted the Disney movies. Makes me excited for more in the series.

Thanks so much for the ARC from the author! I loved how fun and new this felt from the first chapter on! Older FMC, we love that. Also majority of this book is set in almost a mirror portal fantasy world that you can go back and forth between our world and theirs. This does lead to the book feeling a little heavy on the pop culture and modern references but it was fitting to the world set up. We love a bodyguard moment. 10/10. Fun fast paced easy read with some nice banter and lovable side character Also the designs for the chapter headings are divine. So cute!
