I went into this book thinking it would be like every other romantasy Beauty and The Beast retelling, but I was wrong. While there are parts that line up with B&TB, they had been just slight subtle references.

Alix is almost 30 years old, and walks in on her husband cheating on her, with her best friend. Instead of freaking out on both of them, she leaves and decides to go stay at her grandmother's house for a little while they get ready to sell it. Her grandmother lives in Iron Hill, PA, which is a ghost town because of a mine fire (think Centralia vibes). It's there that she meets Daemon, who she thinks is just a regular ol' guy, and thinks she is going to have a regular ol' one night stand. What she doesn't realize however is that Daemon is a fae, and he was sent to the human world to try and find Alix's grandmother Isabelle, to help break a curse that has been plaguing the kingdom for almost 100 years. He thinks Alix is Isabelle since she is wearing her grandmother's enchanted necklace that would have kept Isabelle from aging. Once he kidnaps her, the adventure really takes off.

I loved the characters in this, and I loved the cross over between our normal human realm, to the fae realm. It was a nice mash up, and I was happy to see that Alix didn't go full fantasy and just embraced the fae life, but instead brought some millennial "pizzazz" to the fae. Even the side characters in this book had been great. My favorites are definitely Odessa and Fox. Even though they are on two different ends of the spectrum, I loved Odessa's self assuredness, and I honestly love a man of few words, because when he speaks, you just KNOW he is going to say something great.

I will definitely be continuing on with this series as it gets published!

This was fun! I really liked this Beauty and the Beast retelling, but I *loved* all of the little Easter eggs from the Disney movie sprinkled throughout! They really tickled me, lol. I also loved the title of this book and definitely had an “Ahhh” moment when I reached the scene that it was named after. This was my first Kate King book, but it definitely won’t be my last! I’m excited to jump into her backlist and to see where this series takes us!

I was really excited for this book. Because I had waited about 8 months since the teaser in another one of Kate king's series. However, I did feel that this book was a little disappointing. I think this was initially marketed as an 'older' fmc but she was just 30 and I didn't get the sense other than the first few chapters that her life experience at 30 years old made any difference than if I were to read a fantasy with an 20 yo fmc, other than the husband cheating. I found a few typos in this, which was not a good sign. I also thought the end was very predictable. it was a lighthearted read and I got through it quick. I also felt it took too much from beaty and the beast and anastasia as it was marketed, it felt a little unoriginal

This was a really good book! I cannot wait to continue with the next story…so excited!

Daemon and Peaches (Alix) were such a well matched couple and the progression of their relationship was steady and well done. Daemon has just made it to the top of the book boyfriends list! He was interesting, broody, and fell hard for his peaches. I loved her nickname, Peaches, surprisingly. Alix was a well done, strong FMC! She got on my nerves maybe once or twice, but I quickly got over it lol. She was a character that you’ll connect with and her reactions were realistic.

The side characters were interesting and I found myself wanting to know more about them! Odessa & Kastian 😍😍 I can’t wait for their story!!
