Call me immature but I can't stop laughing at that last line...Boorish? Oh gods you're hilarious.
Avry was perfect. The way even though Kerrick was the typical jerk love interest in the beginning I loved how she wasn't intrigued at all, just disgusted. That made me very happy.
Belen was kind of the Liam Payne of this group, which would make Flea the Niall Horan
Spoilerwhich would be great if Flea didn't die
Loren the Harry, Quain the Louis and Kerrick the Zayn. But I digress...Right, Belen..... he was sweet and amazing and great.
Flea was so sweet and naive and also not naive. I really like him
Spoilerand was thoroughly grieved to see him die.

Quain and Loren (can't separate them) remind me a lot of Fred and George or Remus and Sirius or Sirius and James or Remus and James basically a cool brotp except I just realised every one of these ended in tragedy so maybe not.
Kerrick was amazing and cool and a jerk and arguably sweet and I can't deny I sobbed at certain scenes, he was just amazing alright?
Also Throne of Glass fans this just gave me that vibe!!

I think Maria Snyder is one of my favorite authors. I've read most of her stuff and have enjoyed it so so much. This series is no different and I look forward to reading more.

I loved this book! I was enthralled from the first chapter. I adored Avry and the surrounding characters were so brilliant too, I think Belen is my favorite though! I will definitely be reading the sequels.

I was hesitant after I was so disappointed by the Study series, but I really enjoyed this one! Fingers crossed for the next!

A great YA fantasy read. I'm excited to continue on in the series. Review to come soon!

Kerrick and Avry.. sigh
I just love Maria V. Snyder's writing. Just read this book and you'll understand.

Re-read Review: When I first read this book I was enthralled by the world and magic of it. I loved the romance and how everyone's powers worked. Reading this year's later, it's still a good story and romance, but everything seemed a little rushed. Not necessarily with the romance, but with moving from one scene to the next, it wasn't very polished. I would give this book 4/4.5 stars and recommend it as an easy and enjoyable read!

I stayed up for hours and put off studying for midterms to finish this book! From the very beginning I was hooked and tormented at the same time. I couldn't imagine feeling how Avry felt about her death sentence and taking the pain of others onto herself, that was what made her a strong character for me. I'm hooked and can not wait for the sequel in the next year.

Maria is another favorite of mine, I adore her Study series, and I really enjoyed her Glass series as well. I have been looking forward to reading this book for awhile and I wasn’t disappointed. Despite seeing similarities in the characters (Avry reminds me A LOT of Yelena, albeit softer, Belen of Janco, teaching her how to fight and being the large protector, and Flea reminded me of Fisk, an orphan she takes under her wing) I still really enjoyed the story, and ate it up as fast as I could. Now I’m just itching to read the second book but it doesn’t come out for a few more months.
