If you like the idea of the little mermaid retold but instead the prince doesnt fall for the trick... then this is the book you need to read!
I don't often read the little mermaid retellings since it wasnt really a favorite movie of mine but this book...ohhh my word! I couldn't get enough. In my head it was perfectly and easily imagined. I kinda had an anime movie vibe going on and I absolutely loved it. The colors, the vibrancy, the plot all amazing! All the characters were top notch! The writing top notch! The flow of the story made sense! It had the emotion, the love, the gasps, the tears, the shockers...I mean need I say more?
I want to say that I often run into issues in books where the smut just doesn't make sense. I am happy to say that this book even perfectly placed and executed the smut! I usually label the smut in most books as boomerang smut. The plot usually can't hold up because the smut just ends up being the only thing holding the book. And it just keeps going back to smut every other chapter without much sense. Which I hate and usually end up skipping through. But I can say this book I throughly enjoyed the smut with how well it was written. There was only a few chapters with it but it didnt occur until 50 percent in. Love!!!! And there was only one sex scene that didnt really make sense but I could work around. Overall well done!
Yall need this story in your life. It will be one you cant stop thinking about even after your done reading. Where has Liesl West been hiding!?

I liked the concept and overall storyline of this book. I wish the magic system had been explained a little more though. I also wish Soren could’ve come across as stronger and that Enna’s feelings had felt stronger.

BEST DARK RETELLING I’VE READ! I was in such a reading slump prior to this book. I had it on my list to read but was big excited to since all the other dark retellings I’ve read just fell short. NOT THIS ONE! The author is so talented in her ability to change the story and make it her own. I loved how the characters played out. I think it was the perfect amount of action and spice. Fans of Romantacy will love this. I absolutely love it! I would recommend!

. I real enjoyed this story and thought the romance was good. Enna was a complex character and despite her job title, a big softy. Soren yearning for Enna was everything I wanted. I also enjoyed the world as I’ve never read a book with sirens and mermaids in it with different sections of the sea divided. The antagonist was a bit lack lustre for me as I didn’t completely understand her motivation and it seemed a bit random which is why it is not a higher rating.
Give me a more fun way to start off summer than by reading a dark little mermaid retelling… go ahead, I’ll wait! I really enjoyed this debut book from author Liesl West. It had action, deception, found love - give it a try!!
