Stitching Snow is an enjoyable sci-fi fairy tale based on Snow White. It has action and a slow build romance, but it is a darker story than I was expecting. It is predictable and needs more world building, also the first half of the book is slow paced but it does pick up during the second half.
Essie is tough, resourceful and lonely, and I liked that she was not girly and is independent. Dane is brave and loyal but he is a bit forgettable as he seemed just like most other YA heroes. I really liked Cusser and Dimwit but I would have liked to get to the other 5 drones better.
I enjoyed this book and I am looking forward to reading more from Lewis. I would recommend Stitching Snow to fans of the Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer.

This book could have been great, but I felt that the author just skimmed the surface. I was excited to fall into another world, but despite being dragged to four of them, it never felt real.
The main character also seemed like she'd have a lot to offer: cage fighter, code writer, robot maker, but as soon as she meets the love interest she needs taking care of.

Stitching Snow by R.C Lewis is obviously a retelling of the well-known fairytale Snow white. In this story Princess Snow finds herself-outside of her kingdom on a planet called Thandra. She works there with her seven androids adequately. Down comes crashing Dane to rescue her. But this damsel in distress does not need any help from him! I've read many books and this one hits all the right notes for Teen novel. Snarky heroine, check. Handsome prince that we wants to punch in the face, check. Funny side characters, check. And an evil that can only be destroyed by people under the age 18, check. I really did enjoy this story and will be recommending it to others, but I just wish there was something deeper. (3.5 Out of 5)
I never really liked the original Snow White…or any other princess for that matter. They just seemed to fake for me. R.C. Lewis Stitching Snow didn’t give me this feeling at all. This book caught my eye with the intricate scifi apple on the cover. I noticed this was the writer's debut novel, and I felt it might not hold up to how beautiful the cover was. I was wrong on so many levels. Stitching Snow has every element of a good book in my eyes; a strong heroine, action with a side of romance, and a large sprinkle of humor.
Essie is the perfect reason to read this book. A girl who isn’t scared to fight especially in a cage against miners, yet with the brains to be able to program on the same level as Tony Stark...maybe even better. She shows everyone that no one is the boss of her except herself. Her life hasn’t been simple, but she never lets that control her. Even when placed in an unlikely situation, Essie shows her fiery spirit by making the situation difficult for the other party.
Another great reason to read this book, is the descriptive writing style. R.C. Lewis sure knows how to make the perfect solar system for an adventure such as this. I literally was in the spaceship as the characters traveled from planet to planet, no one the same either. I could picture everything easily from R.C. Lewis’ descriptions, which made reading this book even more pleasurable. I hate when you have to think a while on each description to get the picture the author is trying to give you.
Stitching Snow is the perfect scifi futuristic version of Snow White. I even believe it’s better than the original Snow White. R.C. Lewis kept the more memorable parts of snow white, and placed her own twist to them. Instead of having seven dwarfs, R.C. Lewis puts in their place seven drones with artificial intelligence to some level. The prince charming from the original comes to life in this novel as a rebel of the king of the solar system. the only thing really unchanged is the guard that is tasked to kill her, but lets her escape instead.

It was hard to get into. I enjoyed it, but I wouldn't say it was the greatest book ever, or anything like that.
So even though this is good for me to DNF a book even if I am close to finishing it, I'm still mad I have to make this one the first DNF and 1 star rating of the year this early. So to be honest, I wasn't going into this book with too much high hopes since I wasn't too hyped up or anything. It did seem interesting enough to want to read and I would also see it all the time at my local library and so I thought what the heck? It wouldn't hurt to try this retelling.
Oh was I wrong. I honestly and personally could not get into this book and story unfortunately and so many things had been lacking even the OTP of the story was just poorly executed. I felt no connection to the characters, the story was okay and interesting ut poorly executed for me, and idk. I can't explain it. I just feel like there were too many things seriously and truly lacking for me. So I guess I don't know what else to say is that I was bored and disappointed and just wasn't for me unfortunately. But most of all why I didnt DNF earlier. Maybe I was hoping it would pick up and get better and towsrds the end when it was going BIG TIME downhill for me, I skimmed the rest of it and didnt miss much. It even got predictable for me which also sucked and the ending was bleh bleh bleh stuff

- This was a really fun sci-fi retelling of Snow White! I enjoyed it a lot. I thought it was unique and clever.
- I loved that Essie had 7 drones instead of dwarves! HA! Dimwit was cute and funny. I loved his devotion. I wish we got to see more of the other drones and their personalities. It would have been fun.
- The characters were really great! I really liked Essie, and I felt for her. Dane was so hard to figure out at times, but I really liked him in the end. The King and Queen were people you just love to hate! They were EVIL! I love that this story had great heroes and villains. It gave the story that fairy tale feel.
- The romance was a good one! I loved seeing Essie and Dane go through struggles and times of distrust. I liked their slow growing frienemy relationship.
- The story didn't have me glued to the pages, but it was compelling and enjoyable.
- I really like that this is a stand alone. It could have easily become a series, but I like that it wrapped up everything in one book. Some parts seemed a bit rushed, but it was still a great read.
- I really excited to read the companion novel!
