I received this audio book as a giveaway arc. I am so glad I received it. I listened to the last 4 cds back to back to see what happened next and while I had a good idea it would end happily, there were several twists that surprised me. The reader had a clear voice with good inflection and it was the kind of ending that I listened to twice because I didn't want the story to end yet.
I love retellings of fairy tales, so I'm predisposed to like this. I also love sci-fi and space stories so I'm additionally predisposed to like this. It was awesome, I enjoyed the characters, setting and story so much. It was well-paced sans a small part just before the 3rd act, and there was a secondary storyline I didn't think was necessary, but overall it was a rich, wonderful story right up there with the lunar chronicles.

Sci-fi Snow White
Essie survives on a remote mining planet by fixing robots and winning bar fights. It’s not much of a life, but it’s better than the alternative. At least, that’s what she firmly believes until the day a strange ship crashes near the settlement.
With the help of her seven customized mining drones, Essie repairs the ship and befriends its lone occupant, Dane, only for him to turn around and kidnap her! Now she is faced with a decision: to escape and find a way back to her quiet existence on Thanda, or to return with Dane to her home planet of Windsong where await her murderous stepmother and her father the king — who is far more corrupt than she ever imagined.
A fun little sci-fi romp!
Moderate: Child abuse, Incest, Sexual assault
Vague references throughout the book that the main character's father sexually abused her as a child. One scene near the end where we see him try to again, but it doesn't go farther than holding her down on the bed fully clothed.
Such a great and interesting story. it was an easy read with plenty of character development and plot twist to keep you swiping. I'll be keep and eye on R.C. Lewis.
This book is a wonderful adaptation of Snow White. It had all the right things to keep it a Snow White tale without shoving it at you.
AND NO LOVE TRIANGLE!! it's a miracle!!
I loved the space aspect of it with the ships, robots, and mind magic stuff (very Jedi mind tricks).
Dane plays a heroic and dashing huntsman.
Essie's father and stepmother are super creepy and manipulative.
Her drones are wonderful and funny dwarves.
Essie is brave and cunning. I like that she could save herself.
I would love to read more about it!
The only qualm I had was the allusion to incest/sexual abuse. It didn't go too far into it and they moved right on past it but it has stuck with me.
Overall I really enjoyed the book!

Other than some glaringly obvious similarities to Cinder, I'd say this is a pretty good book. 3.75 stars overall. Great heroine. A rather dull love interest at first, but he got a bit better at first. Our villain was flat and I wish we knew more about her motives. I didn't really understand the King. I liked the different aspects of the planets' relationships. I enjoyed the drones, especially Dimwit.
Overall, not too bad. But not entirely original or fresh.
