So I know we shouldn't judge books by their covers, but I really think the awesome cover of this book is what grabbed me. And, of course, that it's a Snow White retelling, because I'm a huge fan of retellings.
I enjoyed many aspects of this book - the futuristic story world, feisty protagonist (princess in hiding!), reluctant romance, similarities to the original fairy tale. The story takes place in space, and Essie is the only girl on the mining planet Thanda because she's a mechanic. Her seven dwarfs are seven drones, the mining drones she programmed herself and who keep her company. The reader doesn't know much in the beginning about why Essie is in hiding, but you know it has to be a good reason because Thanda isn't particularly safe or comfortable.
When Dane crashes onto her planet, I thought the plot would be pretty predictable from then on out. But I give author R.C. Lewis major points for adding interesting twists that made the plot quite the opposite! Both Essie and Dane have interesting backstories. The romance is slow and sweet, and it's rewarding in the end.
Essie's lingo was a bit overwhelming - she has this entire vocabulary that takes a while to get used to. Believe me when I say I appreciate good world building, but this was a bit distracting.
I really liked this retelling of the classic Snow White. I think it accomplished what all good retellings should: capture the overall tone/essence of the fairy tale, while giving the original a unique spin.

YA fantasy, along the lines of Marissa Meyer's Lunar chronicles, only simpler, and for a younger audience.
Essie lives a harsh life outside a mining colony, kept company by her quirky hand-made droids. She is kidnapped and drawn into a plot to right a wrong from 8 years ago - when she, the princess, ran away. Now she is forced to make a choice to claim her rightful place, even if dangerous, or return to obscurity.
It's a quick read; the characters aren't too deep but likeable, and the world building is fairly straightforward. Entertaining, but largely forgettable
PG: No sex, foul language or anything beyond a kiss. There is insinuation of attempted rape and past sexual abuse (enough to know what's going on, but nothing explicit). Appropriate for younger readers (11-13?)

I was really getting into this book until the scene where Snow's father tries to rape her. Where did that come from? I got that she had daddy issues from her inner monologues throughout the books, but since when is Snow White's father a mad rapist? I didn't buy it. If you want to write plot lines like that, don't say they are based on fairy tales. *end rant*
I was really looking forward to reading Stitching Snow as I’ve really enjoyed most of the fairy-tale retellings that I’ve read lately, and I couldn’t wait to see how this story went. The book definitely did not disappoint!
Essie, also known as Princess Snow, is the missing daughter of King Matthias, who will stop at nothing to get Essie back. But that’s proving to be a bit impossible because she’s well hidden on the freezing planet Thanda, where she spends her days coding and repairing drones that work in the local mines, making life a whole lot easier, and safer, for the miners on the planet. But all that changes when newcomer Dane crash-lands near her home, and changes her world completely.
Essie was a really interesting character. I was definitely able to relate to her being a bit of a loner, for the most part. She was also super smart when it came to coding and building her drones and working on computers. I love the work that she did on the drones, and these drones in particular were really awesome as well. She was a very strong-willed, determined and very stubborn, which made me like her a whole lot.
Dane was a really interesting character as well. I appreciated his determination to keep Essie safe, despite the fact that he felt he had to kidnap her to get what he wanted out of her in the beginning. (I know, I know… without this happening, it would have impacted the story differently, but still.) I also appreciated that their relationship wasn’t insta-love in any way. The relationship had a very rocky start and grew over time, but in the end was really cute.
The storyline for the book was very interesting and kept me intrigued as I turned the pages. I enjoyed that while this was a retelling of Snow White, it also had a sci-fi theme to it. It definitely kept me turning the pages.
Overall, I found Stitching Snow to be an enjoyable read. I’m really looking forward to reading more by this author in the future!
Happy Reading!

This was so much fun!! I didn't really know what to expect, I picked it to read because I thought the cover was interesting. Yes, there was a really fast I think I am in love with you, but the main story was very well done. It felt like a mix of sci fi and fantasy to me, with a little love story.
I liked it. It was an interesting take on a fairytale. I really liked the way it was not a cookie cutter retelling.
Great book! Interesting spin on the Snow White story. I totally fell in love with Dane!
I really loved this book is was so good it is now one of my favorite Snow White retellings. I really loved the characters especially Essie and Dane and all the bots Dimwit they added so much to the story. I really loved the romance it was a gradual thing between Essie and Dane I loved how they meshed so well together they had lots of good chemistry. I really loved the plot of the story it was so well told I love scifi and this is a really good scifi story. I liked how they treated the true loves kiss part of the original story I really liked how that was done. So overall I loved this book and will read more of the author's books.
Spoiler
Essie was hoping he would wake up as a result of her kiss and he did
This started out cool. The protagonist was tough, resourceful, smart and did some cage fighting. But then she met a boy and the rest is history. So much vulnerability and not wanting anyone to see her cry and wondering what this strange feeling was inside her whenever she saw him smile. Can't we have a girl who is vulnerable without absolutely losing all of her strength?! Otherwise, it was an interesting take on the Snow White story. Could have been so much better if they'd included some of her tech abilities.

Cute Snow White re-telling. Not quite on par with the Lunar Chronicles, but it reminded me of that series with all of the tech aspects. (Sometimes too much tech for me!) There were some pacing issues for me, parts of the story seemed so slow-and some things were just rushed so much-like the whole last quarter of the book. But...despite the shortcomings I did like it. Oh, and my favorite part-the droids!! Such personality for auxiliary characters.
Summary: Essie is perfectly content with her life on Thandra-until Dane shows up with a crashed ship needing her help. She is then thrust back into her life as Princess Snow, complete with evil stepmother.
