Enlightening perspectives on the little-known complexities of women in Greek mythology. Thoroughly enjoyed reading about Medusa, Jocasta and Medea; I wish I knew more about the other female characters to properly engage with Haynes’ analyses.

What a wonderful read! I have been on a nonfiction kick for a while and going back to the classics is always a wonderful bridge to returning to fiction.

Now I have to go and look for all of Hayne’s novels to read!

This was a quickly but interesting read! It was a thorough review of the major female characters in Greek myths & plays and their roles in the “real world”. It did a very good job of exploring these women as more than evil incarnate or a minor plot point in a man’s journey. Recommend this to anyone interesting in classics or who loves all of the “modern retellings” being published today.
