funny, light hearted, breezy, interesting, gross, heavy, heart rending, bittersweet, 5 stars

A military sci-fi that is fun and interesting enough. Not brilliant; not mediocre. It's kind of like a summer popcorn flick. Turn off the brain in parts.

It has a nice wry humor to it. As well as a decent dose of introspection. And there are also those parts where it's just fighting aliens. There's the occasional bit of future tech, magical hand-waving but that's kept to a couple instances.

Edit: On further thought, there was more than a smidgen of male Mary Sue to the main character.

An incredible book about war, humanity, and love. I really like the premise of the book how old humans are transformed into young fighting soldiers and are sent around the galaxy to fight for humanity I really enjoyed the characters I enjoyed John Jane Harry Susan I thought it really showed humanity being human. The action scenes were depicted in a the way that appeal to a general audience and I really enjoyed how other aliens also fought like humans fought.
