One of the best books I've ever read!!!

Another free book, another series that I'll keep reading. So... Well done Tor marketing.

This book was a bit too much everything. Sex, emotions, cultural references, invented tech terms. But, I wouldn't put it down until I finished. Kind of a guilty pleasure, with some more serious stuff mixed in.

I finished it, but I probably shouldn’t have. I had read a review that claimed this was “Game of Thrones in space” and I have to say... Not close. Not even a little bit. There was great world building, sparse as it may be, by having Brazilians, Ghanaians, and such as the main families. There was a ton of representation for various groups which seemed interesting.

But man was it lacking as far as a Sci-Fi novel. At most it’s a romance novel with a setting of Space. Peppered throughout the novel were a bunch of descriptions of how the moon can kill you, a depressurization here or there, and lots of discussions about dust. The rest of the novel, like 95%, was all dedicated to talking about clothes, sex, and rich families. It felt like a CW show and had about as much substance.

I’m glad others found joy in it, but it certainly wasn’t a book for me.

So good. So intense. Read this book.

Non do spesso cinque stelline ma questo libro le merita.

It’s like The Godfather on the Moon. Hell to the yeah!

A sci-fi trilogy about the future when humans have settled on the moon to extract its resources. How do you survive in one of the deadliest environments? Though the focus of the book is on the dynamics of five large family corporations, the world building is well-woven into the story.

The book is written from multiple perspectives, covering three generations of Luna people. It can be a bit confusing at first to follow the different characters and see how they fit into the plot. My only complaint is that there are a lot of typos in the print edition that trips me when reading the book.
dark sad fast-paced
Plot or Character Driven: N/A
Strong character development: No
Loveable characters: No
Diverse cast of characters: Yes
Flaws of characters a main focus: No

DNF 39%. Lots of interesting elements, but I didn't care for like 98% of the (many, many) characters or what they were doing.

O my god this book was amazing. It's an epic of ASOIAF proportions set on the moon, pitting family corporation against family corporation and filled with truly awesome characters and twists. I never thought I'd be so interested in matrimonial and contract law, that's for sure. When/if they option this for TV you guys are going to love it.
