Inhalt: „Play for love“ ist der Auftaktband der neuen „Player“-Reihe von K. Bromberg. Hierbei geht es um den besten Spieler der MLB Easton Wylder und die Physiotherapeutin Scout Dalton. Easton hat sich dank eines Gegners bei einem Baseballspiel stark verletzt. Sein Arm ist fürs erste hinüber. Damit er bald wieder auf dem Spielfeld stehen kann, wird Doc Dalton geholt. Nur steht statt ihm plötzlich seine Tochter Scout vor ihm. Schafft sie es in die Fußstapfen ihres Vaters zu treten und Easton wieder fit zu machen? Beide haben ein paar kleinere oder auch größere Familiengeheimnisse. Können die beiden der Anziehung widerstehen und professionell bleiben?
Meinung: Das Cover entspricht leider nicht wirklich meinem Geschmack. Dafür gefällt mir das deutsche Cover ein bisschen besser als das Original. Die Schrift harmoniert sehr gut mit dem schlichten Bild. Übersetzt wurde dieses Buch von Richard Betzenbichler. Der Schreibstil war angenehm. Es wird sowohl aus der Ich-Perspektive von Scout als auch Easton erzählt. Leider konnte die Geschichte mich am Anfang überhaupt nicht von sich überzeugen, da mir das ganze mit den beiden zu schnell ging. Ab dem ersten Viertel ging es aufwärts. Die Geschichte hat mehr Tiefe bekommen. Es ging um Geheimnisse, Unsicherheit und jeder hatte mit etwas zu kämpfen. Die beiden werden wirklich zu einer Einheit und lernen sich immer besser kennen. Der Schlagabtausch von den beiden ist immer wieder amüsant. Ebenso das Miteinander von Easton und seinen Kollegen/Freunden. Gerade letzteres hat mir wirklich gut gefallen. Auch das Gefühl von Druck und Konkurrenz, das sicherlich auch im realen Leben ziemlich hoch ist, wird hier immer mal wieder zur Sprache gebracht. Anfangs fand ich Easton durch seine Sprüche und oberflächige Art nicht sehr sympathisch. Als die Geschichte mehr Tiefe bekommen hat, hat sich seine Art, aber geändert, so dass ich ihn dann doch ganz gerne hatte. Scout fand ich von Anfang an sympathisch. Sie ist eine starke Frau. Zugegeben ihren Namen finde ich nicht so schön, aber die Erklärung dazu, hat mir sehr gut gefallen. Gegen Ende der Geschichte habe ich richtig mitgefiebert. Die Kapitel wurden kürzer und ehrlich gesagt hatte ich nicht mit so einem Cliffhanger gerechnet.
Fazit: Nach anfänglichen Startschwierigkeiten konnte mich die Geschichte von Easton und Scout überzeugen. Dieser Cliffhanger hat mich überrascht und war wirklich fies! Zum Glück erscheint der zweite und letzte Band der „Player“-Reihe von K. Bromberg am 1.01.20 beim Lyx Verlag. Ich kann es kaum noch erwarten weiter zu lesen!

This is one of those real books, real stories and with some real heart put into it. As you may know I have a habit of reading dark romance, I just love it. What can I tell you? But sometimes I need a palate cleanser, something a little more on the realistic side and this is one of those. Everything about this book was real and I guess I really needed that.
This story about Easton and Scout is emotional. With fear of losing someone you love, the excitement of something new, the doubt and insecurity that comes with new changes, and finding someone who truly understands you more than anyone else. K. Bromberg does such a great job telling Easton and Scout's story. It’s well written, easy to follow along, original and raw.This book is filled with sweetness, steam, emotion and angst. If you are looking for something original and easy to pull you in, this is a book you want to pick up.

I don't really understand about baseball. I know it is like rounders. Someone throws a ball. Someone hits a ball. Someone runs around 4 bases. I didn't need to appreciate the game to think about Easton Wylder in tight pants. That is a mighty fine ass!
I love that he calls Scout, Kitty thinking she is an erotic dancer and not the professional sent to fix his busted shoulder. I love the build of sexual tension - Kristy does it so, so well. I love puppies!
It was a known fact that this book would have a sequel, I'm fine with that. Book number two yes please with sprinkles on. Now can anyone recommend a good physio therapist I have problems with my shoulder. Must wear tight pants and take me to see puppies.

OH MY GOSH! I'm obsessed with k. Bromberg lately and thank God I have the 2nd book is all I can say!
Oh. my. God! What the heck was that ending?! Lol! It’s been a while since I’ve read a cliffhanger. I’m lucky that I wouldn’t have to wait for The Catch though. Love the pacing of the book, and the fact that the drama in the story wasn’t overdone. Aaah! Now, I have to read the second book. Bye.
this is a first read for me by this author.
i really really enjoyed it, Easton and scout were so amazing together, great chemistry right from the start.
this is a first in a 2 book duet so it does end on a cliffhanger but definitely worth the read.
