The Player

K. Bromberg

4.07 AVERAGE

I have to confess that although I love K. Bromberg, I was a little hesitant to read this one because I'm not a huge fan of baseball. BUT...Ms. Bromberg definitely found a way to make the sport sexy and fun with Easton and Scout. This book is like a huge bowl of seven layer dip! There's so many tasty layers to the story line and also to the characters. Everything goes together to make a deliciously powerful read! I loved how the story explored not only the relationship between Scout and Easton but also each of their relationships to their parents. Easton was ADORABLE with Scout, sweet and patient! The banter between them was hilarious and smart. The only bad thing about this book is the CLIFFHANGER because I CAN NOT WAIT to find out how these two bold characters find their happy ever after! Told from dual POVs. I received, read and voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

AHHHHH!!!!!
Menos mal que tengo a mano la continuación 😭

Me encantó.

Wow, did the emotions run high in this one and then the ending W.T.F!! Easton is an injured baseball player that Scout comes in to rehab. Scout is the daughter of a legendary rehab specialist but they have family secrets. Easton and Scout have a love - hate relationship from the start because Easton has had bad luck with rehab specialist in the past and Scout is trying to prove that she is just as good as her dad. They both have storms to endure through really getting to know each other and letting their walls down. Then that ending just punched me in the gut! Off to find out what happens in The Catcher.

Another baseball romance done right...

I've owned this diet for some time, I bought it because the cover model is on one of my favorite series by Jessica Hawkins. But from the start I loved the chemistry between Scout and Easton. What is it with injured players falling for their therapist?! So often it's the girl trying to get the guy to see their potential BUT this time around Easton tries everything to get Scout to invest in their potential. When it came to the baseball, I was confused on the exact direction it would truly take. I have some weird feelings when it comes to Santiago, Cal and Doc. We shall see how it all plays out... But the big question, what did Scout choose, the club, the player or herself??!!!

3.5 stars

This first book in a sports romance duet centred on the world of baseball and physical therapy, a perfect romance combination. Easton was not at all the kind of character I imagined from the book title and I found him to be something of a likeable gentleman once I was past his first terrible impression. Scout, his physical therapist was a competent woman in a man's world. This is a familiar trope in some ways, but it worked. I enjoyed the fact that these two were both blessed and fighting their legacies. The chemistry and heat was fun to read.

As always, K Bromberg writes with ease and flow, so I can't say exactly what it was that didn't blow me away with this book. There was definitely a sense of familiarity with the story but then I do favour sports romance and baseball has been a more popularly featured sport in the last year or so. I believed the connection between Scout and Easton but I didn't become fully invested in their journey. The family aspects to THE PLAYER were strong and brought some added emotion to the read.

This book will leave you needing more and I am invested in finding out what happens to these two and their supporting characters, so roll on July.

I enjoyed reading this book, and there was nothing bad about it at all.

Two stars just because I felt like it was a bit black and white for me - a basic storyline with not enough drama. They were both very calm characters and I found myself wanting more. But again, I still really enjoyed it!

…okay, I’m gonna say 2.5 stars.

I can't remember the last time I read a romance book that ended in a cliffhanger and I don't. like. it.

Amazingly perfect.. what a great player!!

I loved this duet!! The beginning was hysterical and the ending was bittersweet. It was a well written and well rounded story that had my heart swooning at every turn. I'm glad I waited for The Catch to come out before I read The Player because I didn't have to wait to see what happened but I still would like a little more Wylder!

Wow! The characters that I have come to expect from Bromberg (deep, broken) with just enough levity to keep me smiling! Amazing! See full review on The Book Disciple
