I started this book on whim, and I absolutely loved it. It was my first book by K. Bromberg, and I’m sure it won’t be my last. The book is told in dual POV, and the writing is great. Finally, after reading I don’t know how many books about baseball, I finally understood the positions on the field. YAY!
I really liked Scout and Easton, I loved how similar they were, doing what they thought was right for their parents and idols, and losing themselves a bit in the process. I also really liked the romance, though I wish there had been a little more buildup to it. Some things just moved a little too fast in my opinion.
But the thing is, this book has a cliffhanger, a huge one. I felt a little bit cheated by it, because it’s one of those cases where you NEED the second book right after, because everything is left up in the air… careers, romances, life in general… it sucked a bit because of that.
That’s why this is not a proper review, because I felt like I didn’t finish a story. There’s no conclusion, there’s just a huge black hole at the end. But I can’t wait to read book 2 to see what happens next.
SO GUYS, BE AWARE THAT IF YOU WANT TO READ IT, YOU NEED BOOK 2 TOO. OK?
AND HAS ANY OF YOU READ THEM? WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS?

This duet gave me all the feels!! I loved this book so much and stayed up all night to finish it. I couldn’t put it down until I read the very last line.
That ending?!?! AH! How am I supposed to wait until this summer to know what happens. I don't think I'm going to make it. I loved this book - wait, no, let me be more specific - I LOVED Easton. I read this in one sitting; devoured it, even. I started freaking out about the 92% mark, because I knew there was no way this book was going to be able to wrap everything up. I should have paid more attention to the whole "duet" thing. Aghh, my heart!

Would have been better as a stand-alone, the ending really didn't push me to want to read the sequel. There was just too many issues for the characters to deal with presented in the book that I just never fully felt invested.
The Player is my third book by K. Bromberg and my feelings were mixed. In fact, my feelings toward this one reflected my feelings toward my first K. Bromberg read. As I loved my second K. Bromberg read, I’ve reached the conclusion it’s the authors sports romances I have trouble with. I’m extremely picky when it comes to the sports romances I read, and the author’s sports romances have failed to grip me in the way I’d hoped.
Although The Player had me hooked and curious to see how everything would come together, I never felt the connection to the characters and the events that I had hoped for. There were too many clichés and predictable elements for me, and it wasn’t until late in the story that the storyline took centre stage. At that point, I powered through the pages to see what happened. It was over very quickly, however, leaving a lot of things hanging for the next book.
I’ll read the sequel, as I’m curious about what is to come next, but I think I’ll stick to non-sports romances from the author in the future.

Easton “East” Wilder seems to be a cocky S.O.B. Scout Dalton gives as good as she gets. It was fun to watch these two annoy each other after he first lays eyes on her. If you love watching baseball, this is coming out at the perfect time since the season is just getting started.
Scout’s job hits home for me because my dad was an R.P.T. and I’d like to think he would be impressed if he had met her. I’d also like to think he would approve of her regimen she has set up for her client. I can also relate to Easton. Part of my life mirrored his – had to step away from the book for a little bit because it brought back some very sad memories. Then our author pulls me from my thoughts by getting me to laugh. This author knows just what will get her readers interested in her stories. You can relate to what the characters do or what their lives are like.
I did love the fact that she didn’t lead these two into bed right from the beginning. And you can tell that they may not be thinking with their heads as they enter into a relationship. But in a way I have to understand where Scout is coming from. If it weren’t for my father’s job he might never have met my mother. My mother hated my father when she first met him. Easton and Scout may not have hated each other but the similarity was a little eerie.
I will say that at times there were scenes that didn’t seem real. Scout is a woman working in a man’s world and you would think that she would fight a lot harder for that position and weigh her risks by what she’s getting involved with. But then you have to remember that this is a work of fiction and this is the world that the author has created. Don’t expect to get any answers when the ending finally comes. The only thing it does do is get the reader ready for the second book.
I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

This review pains me because I am not able to give this book 5 stars. Do not get me wrong I loved the story from the first word to the last but unlike Driven the cliffhanger at the end I personally predicted from about 25% in. Maybe had I not known there was a cliffhanger I may not have seen it.
Now the negative is done with I love this book I love Scout and Easton particularly Scout! I always enjoy K. Bromberg's female leads as they are always strong, sassy and independent! The story was well set and the world you could picture easily. I liked how although they both had reason to push the other away they didn't really fight it and that they did talk when things did get between them. Apart from the end which now has me on tenterhooks for the end of July this book is a great read and Ms Bromberg has once again knocked it out of the park!
