I don't really know why I've forgotten about this. I loved this book because of how Easton and Scout handled everything that happened to them.
I loved how Easton went after what (who) he wanted, and even when he realized that he wasn't just physically attracted to Scout (feelings may be involved), he did not suddenly change his mind and run away. He was pushy, yes, but still a perfect gentleman with Scout. In short, he was not an asshole like a lot of other characters from other books.
I loved Scout and how strong she was. There were times when Easton hurt her but instead of being a drama queen and running away or giving up on them or trying to hurt him back, she just endured the pain.

Très sympa cette romance contemporaine de K. Bromberg ! C'est mon premier livre de cette auteur, et je ne regrette pas du tout ma découverte.
Il s'agit donc d'un contempo sportif, avec un héros momentanément sur la touche, et sa préparatrice sportive/kiné chargée de le remettre au top de ses capacités. Easton est un joueur de baseball, superstar de son équipe, basée à Austin, au Texas. Gravement blessé à l'épaule après un sale tour joué par un adversaire, sa carrière est en péril, il a une date butoir pour revenir sur le terrain, il subit une pression infernale. Pour lui, c'est donc une double épreuve, et il ne s'attend certainement pas à voir une petite nana débarquer, en lieu et place de la légende (masculine) de la rééduc à laquelle il s'attend. Cette nana, c'est Scout, fille du légendaire Doc Dalton. Et on peut dire que leur première confrontation est épique, donnant lieu à un 1er chapitre hauts en couleurs et en joutes verbales !
Alors je dois dire que j'aurais préféré que le jeu du chat et de la souris dure plus longtemps entre eux, mais en même temps, j'aime bien le fait que l'auteur prenne vraiment le temps de développer leur relation. Tous deux traînent leurs propres casseroles, ayant grandi dans l'ombre d'un père à l'aura immense. Chacun à leur manière, ces deux hommes ne sont pas tendres avec leurs enfants, mais le père d'Easton est quand même un sacré abruti (même si sur la fin, il s'amende). Scout ne se laisse pas approcher facilement, ou du moins, elle a bien du mal à faire confiance à Easton et à se confier à lui. Mais Easton prend soin des autres, il n'a rien de l'image du sportif de haut niveau arrogant et consommateur de groupies que l'on pourrait aisément lui coller. C'est un homme patient, attentif et protecteur, je l'ai bien aimé.

Ayant beaucoup aimé le 1er tome, et vu la façon dont celui-ci se termine, je ne pouvais que me jeter sur cette suite ! Celle-ci est aussi réussie que le premier tome, un vrai régal en matière de romance contemporaine.
On reprend le fil de l'histoire exactement là où en s'en est arrêté à la fin du tome, et on retrouve un Easton complètement soufflé par le retournement de situation concernant sa carrière, il se sent trahi et ne sait plus à qui il peut faire confiance. Alors qu'il avait retrouvé toutes ses capacités et était sur le point de faire un retour fracassant sur le terrain, sa vie implose en mille morceaux. Il lui faudra du temps pour se calmer et bien vouloir écouter les explications de Scout, mais disons que le début du roman est très tendu et électrique.
Si le premier roman explorait le chemin de la rééducation d'Easton, celui-ci dépeint ce nouveau départ complètement forcé et subi pour le jeune sportif, et toutes les conséquences qui vont avec. On découvre également quelque chose à son sujet qui m'a complètement scotchée (en fait j'ai eu des doutes vers le début (enfin à 17% de la version kindle), ceux-ci ne seront pleinement confirmés que plus tard dans le livre), et qui donne à le voir sous un autre éclairage. On découvre aussi l'envers du décor en matière de sport, avec les transferts de joueurs, et les manigances de certains managers.
Je ne l'ai pas dit dans mon avis sur le tome précédent, mais on a dans cette série une alternance de narrateur, ce qui fait qu'on ne perd pas une miette des pensées et émotions des deux héros. Ceci dit, pour moi, la véritable 'star' de ce second tome, c'est Easton. Suivre son parcours est intéressant, c'est un personnage sans doute trop beau pour être vrai, mais je l'ai vraiment aimé. Ses forces, ses doutes, ses failles, ses coups de sang ... Il est très humain en fait, et c'est finalement un mec plutôt simple, qui n'a connu que le baseball toute sa vie, a grandi écrasé par l'ombre de son père, joueur superstar de la même équipe que lui : du coup, qui est-il une fois qu'on le dépouille de son identité de joueur ?
J'ai autant aimé ce tome que le précédent, j'ai aimé voir la relation de Scout et Easton gagner en intensité, les voir résister tant bien que mal aux différents coups qu'ils se prennent en pleine poire. Et on peut dire qu'Easton gagne le gros lot de ce côté-là.
Quant à Scout, elle est encore plus forte que dans le tome précédent, et elle aussi en prend pour son grade, mais elle va résister à tout. Tous deux forment vraiment un joli couple, ils sont frais et mignons, et vont vraiment bien ensemble. L'épilogue clôt en beauté leur histoire, vraiment, cette série est extra du début à la fin !

This wasn’t my favorite K Bromberg. I felt a little bit bored throughout this one and had trouble keeping up. I felt like the story didn’t flow for me and kept having to go back to see if I missed anything while reading. Wasn’t the worse story I’ve ever read but not one of my faves.
There is no excuse for not reading The Catch...unless you need to "catch" up with The Player first. Easton Wylder is a must on every book boyfriend aficionado list. (So I collect them- I'm a connoisseur.)
So read The Player and hold on to your hearts because he is a darn good player. Easton will steal it without you realizing it. Be ready for every emotion that will hit because they come hard and fast. Once you get over the shock, you will scramble for The Catch.
The Catch with its equally succinct title will hit you with a curveball. Maybe it's a sidewinder...then the beaning you're going to take will be a enough to knock you off your equilibrium. K. Bromberg does not allow for any healing to the reader. No she keeps you scrambling for purchase like a ball player in a downpour. Slippery grass, dirt that sucks you in like quicksand...leaving you filled with doubt and shaking your head.
I knew at halfway through that this game, this player, this catch...would definitely be a life changer. I may still be in shock but the tears I'm crying are accompanied by a smile. It was an absolute joy to love Easton Wylder. The fangirl in me will be looking out for jerseys, baseballs, and a signed copies of these books.
Don't hate The Player, hate the game...sorry I had to throw in a cheesy line. This duet is one of those that you will buy the ebook, the paperback, and then hunt for an memorabilia that comes out. It's the perfect amount of sassy, fun, and sweet with downright naughty but it also touches your heart and makes you feel like one of the team.

Sorry, I needed to get that out. As I messaged the author my disgruntled reaction, I thought to myself - she's evil. No ifs, ands, or buts. Just plain evil!
That being said, The Player was a fun, sweet, and incredibly sexy book. The tension, the trust issues, and the pressure all compound to make an explosive situation even more...
Desperate. I am so desperate for The Catch. I know it isn't a long wait but it will feel like forever with my fears hanging in the balance.

I couldn't wait to get my hands on The Player by K. Bromberg. Not only do I love baseball romance stories, but K. Bromberg is one of my favorite authors. This book took a bit for me to get into for some reason, but once I did I really loved it! I will admit that the ending caught me by surprise though, and I need the next book! I have to see how this all plays out after the way things ended here!
Scout Dalton and Easton Wylder both come from baseball royalty. Easton now plays for the team his father played for while Scout is now a physical therapist seeing high profile patients that once turned to her father. When a career threatening injury lands Easton in a position to need help, he expects Doc Dalton to show up not his daughter Scout. But Scout is determined to show the world of baseball that she is just as qualified at what she does. But the more time that Scout and Easton spend together, the more personal their relationship grows threatening to cause problems for both of their careers.
I really liked these two. They had great banter and chemistry right from the start. I really enjoyed seeing them get to know one another, and really learn who each one was beyond what everyone else saw. These two understood each other in a way that others wouldn't be able to, and I really felt their connection was strong right from the start. I couldn't get enough of Scout and Easton together, and I I didn't want to leave their world once I was in it.
Overall, this was a great first installment to this series. I really liked the characters and I loved seeing the friendship between Easton and his teammates as much as I did seeing him with Scout. This book was a lot of fun to read and was everything I have come to love about K. Bromberg's books. I can't wait to get my hands on the next book to see what happens for Scout and Easton. I highly recommend checking this one out if you are a fan of K. Bromberg's, or if you love contemporary or sports romance stories. This one was so good and I will be anxiously waiting for The Catch.
