Sylvia walked so this could run

I listened to Halsey reading this as an audiobook and it really just gives the reader additional insight into their mind and creativity! I’m definitely going to be thinking about some of the poems for a while

4.5 stars.

This was masterful. Definitely not perfect, but vulnerable and cunning nonetheless - and I think Ashley prefers that route. This will be something I read, and read, and read, and read....

I don't think I got it all from the first listen. But I think I will learn things and connect with things every time I pick this up.

Even the title screams to me - I would leave me if I could (and don't worry it isn't as severe as you think it is).
I would leave me if I could

First read - fave poems:

Wish you the best
The tourist
Bad day pt 1

First read - fave lines:

I should’ve never counted your eyes lashes when you slept
And in a full grown woman’s arms my brother was a man

I LOVED IT!! Halsey is a natural poet. The words just flow like honey and it's so beautiful to read!!
dark reflective medium-paced

There are books and then there are books.

The ones that leave an impression so deep, the ones you read that have seamlessly put to word the ever encompassing emotions that have kept you bound since birth. And not only does this leave you with a closer understanding of the author but also of yourself and you think "Ah, yes... she understands. I am not alone in this world after all!"

This is what this book is for me. I had quite big expectations when I first pre-ordered and it never, not once let me down. Thank you Ashley, for every single word in this beautiful book and for every single moment you chose to grow through and not let stop you from living your life.

Everyone should read this! I can truly say, I've never loved another book more.
dark hopeful sad fast-paced

Most of these poems sound like something I’d write (derogatory)
