dark reflective sad slow-paced

This book is hard to rate because it’s definitely her speaking her truth and her experiences.
That said, I hated reading it. And maybe there’s something to be said about that; some philosopher or literary lover would tell me that’s what reading and writing are all about, to be uncomfortable. So sure, it does that. True literary merit.
But I hated reading it, and to me that is most important.
The sex stuff gave me the ick, even when it was romantic (which I think was the point of them).
And the experiences were SO painful. My heart hurts for her.
Overall, she’s a great writer. I wouldn’t read it again though. Or recommend it to my loved ones.

It's the sheer comfort.
You're as vibrant as stranger,
but as warm as a friend.
Like every day
I get reintroduced to someone I've known my whole life.
Like meeting myself in a mirror.

Altho I’m not that familiar with Halseys music, I really enjoyed this book. Her poems are raw, honest and she doesn’t try to cover anything up.

I’d like to give a trigger warning for rape, assault, violence.

Deze gekocht in december geloof ik, toen gelezen en nu nog is. Halseys poëziebundel grijpt je bij de keel, doet je verbazen geeft je een inzicht in de pijn die ze moest voelen.

I loved this, might buy a copy

She uses visceral language that demands each word to be felt, with a specificity that denies any comfort

this was a palate cleanser after not reading for 3 months. i forget i get whiplash from poem to poem when the material ranges on the topic. idk how to rate poetry books so this rating is moreso for my own understanding if i'd want to reread or not.
