I don't like how wishy-washy Olivia is; she wants Malachi but she's his sister so they can't yet she's dropping to her knees and popping her mouth wide open at his say-so

i need therapy and a priest after that

TBR Prompt Jar 3- Prompt: Read a book with a morally grey black character

All I know is I'm in love with Malachi Vize
I do not care about Olivia, I genuinely hate her...but Malachi, I'd kill for that guy. (tbh, he might just kill me)

This book was the pick of my local book club. I gotta say it was a daring pick for a first book in a book club, but the random generator wheel has chosen and so we abide to its wisdom. I didn't know what to expect when I started this, but I could never have guessed it was this (although, yes I read the trigger warnings, but...)

Overall I have to say: this wasn't exactly my cup of tea. My brain went 'this is not okay' over and over again while I was reading and I got to admit that was quite difficult to deal with. Not that I got triggered or anything, but there was a constant sense of wrongness that just didn't sit totally right with me.

I also thought that Olivia's way of thinking at eighteen was kind of childlike. This did bother me, because on one hand at eighteen she's considered a consenting adult, but on the other hand her thought patterns could've been those of a much younger child I feel. This definitely made it icky.

When you switch from Olivia's to Malachi's POV, I think you can finally really see how twisted that man really is. There definitely was a lot wrong with the guy in the first place, but after living in his brain for a bit, it really got a lot worse.

This book is also described as a taboo romance, and rightfully so, but I also got to say that Parker was also a fucked up character. Like one of them wasn't enough in this story, so you gotta have another.

The reason why I rate this 2 stars instead of 1 is because I didn't think the writing was bad, and in the end this story did keep me engaged long enough. I never had the feeling that I just didn't want to read this book. And that's, begrudgingly, the truth.
