be warned

I made the mistake of going into this book blindly, not knowing a single thing about it.
So the first eight , I was so confused and surprised. I was fighting my brain on the “ick” factor of this book, and the totally taboo part. But, logic can be a fickle creature and in the world of fiction there is a fine line between logic and fantasy. I enjoyed this book more when the pov changed to Malachi. He was more sure of what he needed and wanted, he was a more reliable narrator even though he was the one who was mental. This was honestly a great read.

The whole time I’m just like what am I reading

Okay, so i DID NOT expect it to be this dark and smutty. i had to give pause between reading because HOLLY S**T, I kept thinking okay this matches the vibes of Joe Goldberg from YOU but the way the story progressed in this book with dark twisted character of Malachi, ever since he was a child. i was like

This book made me so uncomfortable. As a lover of dark romance and morally black themes, this one just hit me in a weird way. I figured I’d read it for the hype of Malachi, but dear lord help me. The whole calling each other brother and sister was just gross. I get they’re not related but it was truly just a weird trope that I’m not into

Reminds me of old 1D wattpad fics tbh.
Why is a judge selling her daughter’s virginity and how did she get away with that. Also both parents work in law….I doubt they need money that bad Jesus.

This is clearly a bunch of the author’s very taboo fantasies in one book. Blatant romanticising of rape and abuse. The writing has a lot of cringe wattpad style tropes but was overall…fine and this books saving grace. The storyline is just…not good. I’m all for taboo and edgy stuff but at least make it worth my time. A few scenes nearly made me DNF due to being just flat out rape scenes disguised as smut. Characters are not likeable at all - FMC is boring and MMC is possessive but to the extreme.
